AFTER LIFE 3 Review and Open Letter to Ricky Gervais Part 13 AFTER LIFE Soundtrack is the best! I love the song ”The Wind” by Cat Stevens and it works well in episode 4 of AFTER LIFE. I spent the summer of 1979 in England visiting the homes of Muslims and was told by three of them that Cat Stevens had been in their presence just days before!

Dear Ricky,

I noticed that you have been involved in the British Humanist Association for a long time and I wondered if you ever met H.J. Blackham? He was a very interesting person who is quoted in the book WHATEVER HAPPENED TO THE HUMAN RACE? by Francis Schaeffer and Dr. C. Everett Koop. I wanted you to know that I had the pleasure of visiting with Lester Mondale at his cabin in Missouri in 1996. He was the only person who signed all three of the Humanist Manifestos.

I spent a whole summer in England in 1979 and it was a very interesting experience for several reasons. I was part of the organization OPERATION MOBILIZATION and we were an Christian Evangelical group that in that summer went to the homes of Muslims and Hindus and shared the gospel with them in the Manchester area. I also spent some time and London and got to attend All Souls Church, Langham Place, and hear the famous John Stott preach and I got to meet Michael Baughen who was the pastor (or Rector as you would say in England) at the time.  Three noteworthy events during that time and one was attending a MANCHESTER UNITED soccer game.

Secondly, I met several people who had recently visited with Cat Stevens and they told me he had recently converted to Islam and changed with name to Yusuf Islam. Cat Stevens had performed the song “Morning Has Broken” a few years earlier and it was one of my favorite songs.

Thirdly, I got depressed in August because the sun only came out about 4 or 5 times that whole summer in England.

I love the song ”The Wind” by Cat Stevens and it works well in episode 4 of AFTER LIFE.

Songfacts®:

  • In this song, Cat Stevens examines spirituality and fate, listening to the wind of his soul to find his direction. At the time, he was exploring Eastern philosophy following a life-threatening bout of tuberculosis. His quest led him to convert to Islam in 1977, when he became Yusuf Islam. When he started performing his Cat Stevens songs again in the ’00s, “The Wind” is one he often played.

I got this below off the internet but it analyzes the song well:

I think the song is about Cat finding contentment in God. A lot of his music was about death and religion, but this song i feel is about how all that is behind him.

I listen to the wind
to the wind of my soul

He’s finally listening just to what his soul is telling him, and ignoring the misleadings of the world around him.

Where I’ll end up well I think
only God really knows

The second line of this is a just a standard phrase for not knowing, but here it means that truly only God knows, and he’s putting his trust in that.

I’ve sat upon the setting sun
but never, never never never
I never wanted water once
no never, never, never

Now that he’s at peace, even sitting on the sun doesn’t make him cry out for water, which I’m guessing means giving in to temptations of life.

I listen to my words but
they fall far below
I let the my music take me where
my heart wants to go

His music has helped him get this far in it all.

I swam upon the devil’s lake
but never, never never never
I’ll never make the same mistake

Pretty clear here, he’s put aside the dark things he did in his past, and he’ll never return to them.ZeroOneon October 23, 2004Link

The third season of After Life launches on Netflixtoday, bringing the latest comedy project from Ricky Gervais to an emotional conclusion.

The so-called ‘sadcom’ has tackled some heavy themes during its rollercoaster run, which has seen widow Tony Johnson (Gervais) give into self-destructive tendencies as he struggles to come to terms with his wife’s tragic death.

Adding some extra heft to the most dramatic scenes are the music choices, which are usually directly relatable to the difficult situation that Tony finds himself in.

After Life season 3 features a wide range of musical acts, including legendary songwriters Bob Dylan and Cat Stevens, as well as rock bands Radiohead and Death Cab for Cutie.

For any viewers who hear something they like in the last six episodes, we’ve compiled a full list of the licensed songs in After Life season 3, of which the finale has the largest jukebox.

Cat Stevens became a muslim but the Koran is not like the Bible which has fulfilled prophecy in it, and 53 historical notable people in the Bible have been confirmed through archaeological evidence! Also there is compelling evidence that the Bible contains sound medical principles that clearly predate their more recent discovery by thousands of years. The accuracy of the Bible has been confirmed by archaeology over and over in the past and one of the amazing finds was in 1948 when the Dead Sea Scrolls had copies from every Old Testament Book except Esther! One of the most powerful recent discoveries involved the bones of the high priest Caiaphas who questioned Christ in 30 AD. In 1838 American biblical scholar Edward Robinson shook up the archaeological world by discovering Hezekiah’s Tunnel mentioned in the Bible. There is meaning in life available to anyone who will put their faith in Christ, and peace can’t be found in a GuruWhy not take a few minutes and just read the short chapter of Psalms 22 that was written hundreds of years before the Romans even invented the practice of Crucifixion. 1000 years BC the Jews had the practice of stoning people but we read in this chapter a graphic description of Christ dying on the cross.

Biblical Archaeology is Silencing the critics! Significantly, even liberal theologians, secular academics, and critics generally cannot deny that archaeology has confirmed thebiblical record at many points. Rationalistic detractors of the Bible can attack it all day long, but they cannot dispute archaeological facts.

The answer to find meaning in life is found in putting your faith and trust in Jesus Christ. The Bible is true from cover to cover and can be trusted.

Thanks for your time.

Sincerely,

Evidence for the Bible

March 27, 2013 – 9:43 pm

Here is some very convincing evidence that points to the view that the Bible is historically accurate. Archaeological and External Evidence for the Bible Archeology consistently confirms the Bible!
