VIDEO: Kermit Gosnell killings like ‘weeding your garden’

Many in the world today are taking a long look at the abortion industry because of the May 14, 2013 guilty verdict and life term penalty handed down by a jury (which included 9 out of 12 pro-choice jurors)  to Dr. Kermit Gosnell. During this time of reflection I wanted to put forth some of the pro-life’s best arguments.

In the film series “WHATEVER HAPPENED TO THE HUMAN RACE?” the arguments are presented  against abortion (Episode 1),  infanticide (Episode 2),   euthanasia (Episode 3), and then there is a discussion of the Christian versus Humanist worldview concerning the issue of “the basis for human dignity” in Episode 4 and then in the last episode a close look at the truth claims of the Bible.

VIDEO: Kermit Gosnell killings like ‘weeding your garden’

By Ben Broussard
May 01, 2013

The passerby tried to justify Dr. Gosnell’s brutal abortions. “It’s not murder.”
Refering to pregnant mothers, she said: “There’s nothing there until there’s love.”
TFP volunteer: “If it’s not murder, then what is it?”
Pro-abortion woman: “It’s like you’re weeding your garden.”
TFP: “Really? Do you kill the weeds?”
“You have to love. There’s not life until there’s love.”
On Monday, April 28, 2013, six TFP Student Action members travelled to downtown Philadelphia to campaign against abortion. The atmosphere was highly charged as the young men formed outside the Center for Criminal Justice, where final arguments in the murder trial of abortionist Kermit Gosnell were taking place.  He is being charged with eights counts of murder.

Shortly after arriving and forming beside the main entrance of the court building, TFP members began praying the rosary in reparation for the sin of abortion.  Many passersby frequented the busy streets around the courthouse, amid a light rain that persisted through the morning. Volunteers distributed the flyer St. Michael the Archangel and the Pro-Life Victory, showing the need for invoking the prince of the heavenly armies for victory in the fight against abortion. It wasn’t long before this firm condemnation of the sin of abortion was met with some vocal opposition.

Soon after beginning the rosary, two elderly women approached and began shouting insults. “It’s not murder! You men don’t ever have to have one!” This elicited the quick reply “Abortion is a sin, shame on you!”

As another woman passed reading the signs opposing abortion, she said in disgust, “It isn’t murder… it’s just like weeding your garden.” Following her questionable logic, a volunteer replied, “When you uproot the weeds from your garden, what do you do with them? You’re not transplanting them, you’re killing them.”

The negative reactions were counteracted by many supportive comments. A group of young women gave thumbs up as they crossed the intersection, one of whom shouted back, “That’s right, abortion is murder. I’m keeping my baby!”

Ending a Media Blackout

The controversial case of Kermit Gosnell received very little media coverage since beginning two months ago. On Friday, April 12, advocates of the unborn sought to end the media blackout by using the social networking site Twitter to openly challenge journalists and media outlets, alleging bias in not reporting one of the most horrific murder trials in living memory.

According to LifeSiteNews.com, 166,800 tweets using the #Gosnell hashtag were sent in a matter of 12 hours. This put overwhelming pressure on members of the media, which resulted in admissions of bias and oversight, and new attempts to bring the story to the public. The website whoisgosnell.com was set up to track the coverage of the story,  while also showcasing a 20-minute documentary exposing what was dubbed Gosnell’s ‘house of horrors’.

An Offense Against God

As the morning changed to afternoon, TFP Student Action was joined by other abortion opponents for a prayer vigil outside the courthouse. Leaders in the fight for the unborn led the crowd in prayer, and gave prepared statements to the media. Many large signs and banners showed outrage over the crimes Gosnell perpetrated.

Consistent in opposing abortion, one TFP sign read: “Every abortion facility is a house of horrors that offends God!” Anyone who read it immediately reacted, some giving approval, others showing contempt, but the vast majority averting their eyes and choosing to ignore reality.

The campaign came to a close in mid-afternoon, all mindful that the outcome of the trial was still hanging in the balance. The six young men headed home, more determined than ever to continue legal and peaceful battle to end abortion. May St. Michael lead the way in this spiritual combat to bring about a pro-life victory in America and throughout the world.

Francis Schaeffer: “Whatever Happened to the Human Race” (Episode 1) ABORTION OF THE HUMAN RACE

Published on Oct 6, 2012 by

________________

It’s now been seven days since the Philadelphia Inquirer broke the story of the grand jury report on abortion doctor Kermit Gosnell. So far, neither the Religious Coalition for Reproductive Choice, nor its member organizations including the Episcopal Church, Presbyterian Church (USA), United Church of Christ, United Methodist General Board of Church and Society and Women’s Division, and various mainline church caucuses, have had a single word to say about Gosnell.

Keep in mind that this was a major news story that involved the killing of at least seven babies (and very possibly hundreds more) as well as at least one woman. Gosnell hasn’t been charged with medical malpractice, or with having a dirty office, but with eight counts of murder. In fact, Gosnell may be the biggest mass murderer in American history, though his destruction of his own records would make that hard enough to prove in court that he’s only charged with eight. (A former assistant of his says that she aided in at least one hundred killings of live-born children.) And yet–perhaps because Gosnell didn’t try to kill a politician, didn’t use a gun, and was practicing a profession that the mainline denominations approve of wholeheartedly–there’s not been a peep.

With regard to the RCRC, that’s not surprising. People across the political spectrum (outside of the abortion-worshipping far left) have been seeking to outdo themselves in indicating their disgust at the chamber of horrors Gosnell ran while killing perhaps hundreds of live babies using a procedure very similar to one that RCRC says should be legal. RCRC apparently figures that if it doesn’t say anything, it won’t look like it’s supporting Gosnell’s practices. But while I’m sure RCRC doesn’t approve of his malpractice or breaking the law, the fact is that RCRC supports two of the pillars of Gosnell’s work: abortion at absolutely any stage of pregnancy, and killing viable babies after bringing them partially (if not entirely) out of the mother. Condemning him would thus be seen as the height of hypocrisy, and defending him would be the equivalent of defending Joseph Mengele, so best that they just ignore the whole sorry mess.

From the mainline denominations that are part of RCRC, as well as their various divisions and caucuses, the silence is only slightly less surprising. RCRC at least has the excuse the it has a 100% supportive constituent base in the mainline bureaucracies and pro-abort interest groups. The denominations, on the other hand, while all officially supportive of abortion rights, still have to deal with minorities (in the case of the PCUSA and UMC, substantial minorities at least) who are pro-life and revolted by Gosnell’s handiwork. You’d think that at the very least, they could muster up some measure of condemnation for him and his filthy practice, even as they reaffirm that abortion should be legal, etc.

And yet they don’t. Now, here’s the contrast that comes to mind. After the mass murder in Tucson, the mainline denominations, along with the National Council of Churches, leapt in with a variety of statements. For example, the NCC has had four different items on its home page about Tucson. The Presbyterian News Service has published five (including one from the Religion News Service on [some] Jewish reaction to Sarah Palin’s use of the term “blood libel”), the Episcopal News Service two (including one that tried to link the Tucson murders to the debate over health care reform), and the UM GBCS three in their January 18 newsletter and another one on gun control in their January 25 edition. Most of them were variations on the two themes of greater regulation of guns and gun accessories as well as the need to “tone down” the political rhetoric (something that didn’t concern them when it was George Bush’s assassination or shooting a Florida gubernatorial candidate that was being drooled across the airwaves).

This is despite the fact that there are some concrete steps that can and should be taken, and that are even now being proposed in the Pennsylvania legislature. For instance, according to the Philadelphia Inquirer:

Sen. Patricia Vance (R., Dauphin), who chairs the Public Health and Welfare Committee, is drafting a measure requiring the state Health Department to swiftly respond to any complaints and to conduct more timely inspections of health clinics.

Sen. Jake Corman (R., Centre) vowed to introduce a bill as early as this week to require annual state inspections of abortion clinics. “The most disturbing question which must be answered is, ‘How was this allowed to go on for so long?’ ” he said.

Corman said his proposal would also mandate minimum health and safety standards “for all abortion clinics – the same safety standards which other health care facilities must meet in the state.”

Those seem like eminently reasonable proposals. What’s more, they fit in with the mainliners’ invariable political instinct, which is that when a problem arises, the solution is more and/or better government regulation and oversight. In this case, I happen to agree completely, at least as long as we can’t put abortionists out of business entirely. And yet…nothing.
Instead, through their creature the RCRC, the mainline denominations are pushing Congress to do what 80% of the American people, as well as a similar percentage of members of mainline churches don’t want to see happen, which is for abortion to become the one “right” that all of us have to subsidize the exercise thereof. They are opposing any effort to prevent federal funds from being used in the insurance exchanges set up by Obamacare to pay for abortion. (More on this from Mark Tooley of the Institute for Religion and Democracy.)
One wonders if the victims of Kermit Gosnell, for whom the mainline churches can apparently spare no attention, appreciate their efforts to allow his colleagues to feed from the federal trough.

Open letter to President Obama (Part 353)

(This letter was emailed to White House on 12-13-12.)

President Obama c/o The White House
1600 Pennsylvania Avenue NW
Washington, DC 20500

Dear Mr. President,

I know that you receive 20,000 letters a day and that you actually read 10 of them every day. I really do respect you for trying to get a pulse on what is going on out here.

I truly believe that many of the problems we have today in the USA are due to the advancement of humanism in the last few decades in our society. As you know Ronald Reagan appointed the evangelical Dr. C. Everett Koop to the position of Surgeon General in his administration. Please consider contacting him and asking his opinion concerning humanism. Actually I have included a video below that includes comments from him on this subject.

Francis Schaeffer: “Whatever Happened to the Human Race” (Episode 5) TRUTH AND HISTORY

Published on Oct 7, 2012 by

The 45 minute video above is from the film series created from Francis Schaeffer’s book “Whatever Happened to the Human Race?” with Dr. C. Everett Koop. This book  really helped develop my political views concerning abortion, infanticide, and youth euthanasia, and it gave me a good understanding of those issues.
I was able to watch Francis Schaeffer deliver a speech on a book he wrote called “A Christian Manifesto” and I heard him in several interviews on it in 1981 and 1982. I listened with great interest since I also read that book over and over again. Below is a portion of one of Schaeffer’s talks  on a crucial subject that is very important today too.
A Christian Manifesto
by Dr. Francis A. Schaeffer
This address was delivered by the late Dr. Schaeffer in 1982 at the Coral Ridge Presbyterian Church, Fort Lauderdale, Florida. It is based on one of his books, which bears the same title.

Liberal theology is humanism with religious words

—-

Now, we cannot be at all surprised when the liberal theologians support these things, because liberal theology is only Humanism using theological terms, and that’s all it ever was, all the way back into Germany right after the Enlightenment. So when they come down on the side of easy abortion and infanticide, as some of these liberal denominations as well as theologians are doing, we shouldn’t be surprised. It follows as night after day.

Thank you so much for your time. I know how valuable it is. I also appreciate the fine family that you have and your commitment as a father and a husband.

Five Thoughts on the Gosnell Conviction

Five Thoughts on the Gosnell Conviction

Here are five brief thoughts on the conviction and sentencing of Dr. Kermit Gosnell, the Philadelphia abortion provider. Recently, Dr. Gosnell was sentenced to life in prison for performing “abortions” on multiple children born after 24-weeks, including children born alive.1. Gosnell exposed the true horrors of abortion.
This case exposed to a wide audience the horrible practices of abortion. Dr. Gosnell committed these crimes by an unspeakable practice he called “snipping,” i.e. the cutting of children’s spinal cords with scissors. That this practice (or a similar technique) could ever be performed on any infant–much less those born alive–is beyond comprehension. This trial brought the bloody mess that is the practice of abortion to our collective conscience, and forced us to reckon with its sheer monstrosity.  2. The power of conservative social media.
Although the mainstream news media was slow to cover this trial, Gosnell eventually began to receive the coverage it deserved to have from the start. Whether it was shunned because of the terrors of the details of the trial, or because the liberal-leaning media knew that it was damaging to an “abortion on demand” ideology, we may never know. What we do know is that it was conservative bloggers, including users of micro-blogs like Twitter with its #Gosnell campaign, who brought this case to the attention of the world. In case you were wondering, FOX News and CNN covered the sentencing of Dr. Gosnell on live TV. When I flipped over to MSNBC, they were eagerly promoting a new movie about Wikileaks: disgusting.

3. Our existing laws are in serious need of revision.
Roe vs. Wade made the rubric of dividing pregnancy into trimesters the universal language of our medical system. Unfortunately, most states’ abortion laws are governed by medical science and knowledge that is decades old. Today, premature children are able to live outside the womb weeks–or even months–earlier than they were in the 1970’s. A child that was considered “viable” then, may be viable much earlier today.

Although I consider life to begin at the moment of conception, (as do most serious Bible-believing Christians), even those who do not share our conviction must now reckon with the fact that a baby is clearly alive–by any medical, philosophical, or theological standard–long before 39-weeks.

That this is the case cannot seriously be disputed by any rational thinker. Today’s 3D ultrasound technology is a major player in convincing our society of the true miracle of life in the womb.

4. These horrible acts are likely to be much more widespread than we are ready to admit.
Already–just a week later–there are allegations of another case in Texas that may be even worse than the Gosnell case. The practice of “snipping” live-born children was apparently not restricted to an obscure location in inner-city Philly, as many would have us believe. The reports of one Dr. Douglas Karpen are rumored to be more despicable than Gosnell, if that is even possible. This case, if reports by observers and witnesses are to be believed, also includes the decapitation of infant children.

5. The failure of federal and state governments to regulate the entire industry of abortion providers is a disgrace.
Gosnell got away with his murderous rampage for years, decades even. No regulator would touch his so called “medical” practice. Sadly, he was never brought down by the incidents and reports related to infanticide; it was drug charges that eventually brought investigators looking. Our societal reluctance to regulate abortion providers because it seems to violate a “right” to abortion-on-demand is heinous indeed.

I have gone back and forth and back and forth with many liberals on the Arkansas Times Blog on many issues such as abortion, human rights, welfare, poverty, gun control  and issues dealing with popular culture. Here is another exchange I had with them a while back. My username at the Ark Times Blog is Saline Republican.

On 2-21-13 on the Arkansas Times Blog  I asserted:

“Stephen Anthony Lafferty brought up the subject of selfishness. That reminds me of a story about Hillary Clinton, who I admit probably will be our next president. I got this off of Doug Lawrence’s blog:

Hillary Clinton’s encounter with Mother Teresa began, it just so happens, at the National Prayer Breakfast, way back in 1994. That year, the keynoter was a special guest: Mother Teresa. Nearly 3,000 packed a huge room. Near the dais were the president and first lady—the Clintons…Mother Teresa next spoke of love, of selfishness, of a lack of love for the unborn—and a lack of want of the unborn because of selfishness. Then, the gentle sister made this elite group uncomfortable: “But I feel that the greatest destroyer of peace today is abortion, because Jesus said, ‘If you receive a little child, you receive me.’ So every abortion is the denial of receiving Jesus.”

On 2-21-13 on the Arkansas Times Blog  the liberal Elwood responded, “Again, Saline, when should child support payments begin?”

On 2-21-13 on the Arkansas Times Blog  the liberal Amy Benton Bradley-Hole observed:

Since when does what Mother Teresa said about abortion have any bearing on U.S. abortion laws? Did someone abolish our state government overnight and establish the Catholic Church of Arkansas parochial junta? Or are we still a place where religious beliefs aren’t forced on people by the government?

Wait, don’t answer that. This is the Bible belt, after all.

Look, I’m a pretty hard core Christian. And I admire many of Mother Teresa’s qualities. But when it comes to discussions of government and science (Anybody in the legislature remember what science is? Apparently not.), I would never bring up my religious beliefs. BECAUSE MY RELIGIOUS BELIEFS HAVE NO PLACE IN GOVERNMENT, AND NO BEARING ON SCIENTIFIC FACTS.

Why is that so #*^$ing hard to understand?

On 2-21-13 on the Arkansas Times Blog  I asserted:

Elwood you suggest if prolife people are not willing to pay for poor people’s unwanted babies’ needs then we are not part of the answer.

Hank Hanegraaff noted:

Attacking people rather than arguing principles, ad hominem arguments are a trick designed to distract attention from the real issue — namely, that abortion is the killing of an innocent human being. Comedienne Whoopi Goldberg used this tactic when she suggested that abortion rights advocates would take pro-lifers more seriously if they were willing to adopt babies slated for abortion.
What this ad hominem argument is really saying is, “If you won’t adopt my babies, don’t tell me I can’t kill them!” That, of course, makes as much sense as forbidding me from intervening when I see my neighbor physically abusing a child unless I am willing to adopt that child.

The “adoption argument” completely evades the basic morality or immorality of abortion. Instead, it is an attempt to attack character in order to avoid the case against abortion.

_______________

In the film series “WHATEVER HAPPENED TO THE HUMAN RACE?” the arguments are presented  against abortion (Episode 1),  infanticide (Episode 2),   euthenasia (Episode 3), and then there is a discussion of the Christian versus Humanist worldview concerning the issue of “the basis for human dignity” in Episode 4 and then in the last episode a close look at the truth claims of the Bible.

Francis Schaeffer: “Whatever Happened to the Human Race” (Episode 1) ABORTION OF THE HUMAN RACE

Published on Oct 6, 2012 by

Francis Schaeffer saw the issues that our society would be facing in the future because of humanism and he was right on just about everything. Take a look at some of his quotes below: (By the way one of my favorite quotes is the first one listed below.)

“If man is not made in the image of God, nothing then stands in the way of inhumanity. There is no good reason why mankind should be perceived as special. Human life is cheapened. We can see this in many of the major issues being debated in our society today: abortion, infanticide, euthanasia, the increase of child abuse and violence of all kinds, pornography … , the routine torture of political prisoners in many parts of the world, the crime explosion, and the random violence which surrounds us.”
Francis A. Schaeffer, Whatever Happened to the Human Race?
“What is the place of art in the Christian life? Is art- especially the fine arts- simply a way to bring worldliness in through the back door? What about sculpture or drama, music or painting? Do these have any place in the Christian life? Shouldn’t a Christian focus his gaze steadily on “religious things” alone and forget about art and culture? As evangelical Christians, we have tended to relegate art to the very fringe of life. The rest of human life we feel is more important.Despite our constant talk about the lordship of Christ, we have narrowed its scope to a very small area of reality. We have misunderstood the concept of the lordship of Christ over the whole man and the whole of the universe and have not taken to us the riches that the Bible gives us for ourselves, for our lives, and for our culture. The lordship of Christ over the whole of life means that there are no platonic areas in Christianity, no dichotomy or hierarchy between the body and the soul. God made the body as well as the soul, and redemption is for the whole man.”
Francis A. Schaeffer, Art & the Bible
“True spirituality covers all of reality. There are things the Bible tells us to do as absolutes which are sinful- which do not conform to the character of God. But aside from these things the Lordship of Christ covers all of life and all of life equally. It is not only that true spirituality covers all of life, but it covers all parts of the spectrum of life equally. In this sense there is nothing concerning reality that is not spiritual.”
Francis A. Schaeffer, A Christian Manifesto
“Christians . . . ought not to be threatened by fantasy and imagination. Great painting is not “photographic”: think of the Old Testament art commanded by God. There were blue pomegranates on the robes of the priest who went into the Holy of Holies. In nature there are no blue pomegranates. Christian artists do not need to be threatened by fantasy and imagination, for they have a basis for knowing the difference between them and the real world “out there.” The Christian is the really free person–he is free to have imagination. This too is our heritage. The Christian is the one whose imagination should fly beyond the stars.”
Francis A. Schaeffer, Art & the Bible
“We are not being true to the artist as a man if we consider his art work junk simply because we differ with his outlook on life. Christian schools, Christian parents, and Christian pastors often have turned off young people at just this point. Because the schools, the pastors, and the parents did not make a distinction between technical excellence and content, the whole of much great art has been rejected with scorn and ridicule. Instead, if the artist’s technical excellence is high, he is to be praised for this, even if we differ with his world view. Man must be treated fairly as man.”
Francis A. Schaeffer, Art & the Bible
“To be really Bible-believing Christians we need to practice, simultaneously, at each step of the way, two biblical principles. One principle is that of the purity of the visible church. Scripture commands that we must do more than just talk about the purity of the visible church; we must actually practice it, even when it is costly. The second principle is that of an observable love among all true Christians. In the flesh we can stress purity without love, or we can stess love without purity; we cannot stress both simultaneously. To do so we must look moment by moment to the work of Christ and to the Holy Spirit. Without that, a stress on purity becomes hard, proud, and legalistic; likewise without it a stress on love becomes sheer compromise.Spiritually begins to have real meaning in our lives as we begin to exhibit simultaneously the holiness of God and the love of God. We never do this perfectly, but we must look to the living Christ to help us do it truly.”
Francis A. Schaeffer, The Great Evangelical Disaster
“God’s Word will never pass away, but looking back to the Old Testament and since the time of Christ, with tears we must say that because of a lack of fortitude and faithfulness on the part of God’s people, God’s Word has many times been allowed to be bent, to conform to the surrounding, passing, changing culture of that moment rather than to stand as the inerrant Word of God judging the form of the world spirit and the surrounding culture of that moment. In the name of The Lord Jesus Christ, may our children and grandchildren not say that such can be said about us.”

Dr. C. Everett Koop on Baby Doe, euthanasia, abortion

Uploaded on Nov 3, 2008

Dr. Koop answers questions on Baby Doe, euthanasia and abortion during interview at Wheaton College, Wheaton, IL http://www.christianethics.org

Dr. Koop

On 2-25-13 we lost a great man when we lost Dr. C. Everett Koop. I have written over and over the last few years quoting Dr. C. Everett Koop and his good friend Francis Schaeffer. They both came together for the first time in 1973 when Dr. Koop operated on Schaeffer’s daughter and as a result they became close friends. That led to their involvement together in the book and film series “WHATEVER HAPPENED TO THE HUMAN RACE?” in 1979.

In this 1979 film series they dealt with the big social issues and predicted what social problems we have in the future because of humanism. For instance, they knew that the Jack Kevorkians of the world would be coming down the pike. They predicted that there was a slippery slope from abortion to infanticide to youth euthanasia brought on by the materialistic worldview.

C. Everett Koop

by David Bayly on February 26, 2013 – 2:40pm
The death of Dr. C. Everett Koop at his home in New Hampshire yesterday marked the loss not only of a public Christian of note, but one of Evangelicalism’s most signifiicant leaders in the battle to uphold the sanctity of human life. The Roman Catholic pro-life movement had its legion of stalwarts in the seventies and early eighties: Joe Scheidler, Mother Theresa, Father Paul Quay, Archbishop O’Connor; the list is impressive. And Evangelicalism? Who were her pro-life leaders? There literally weren’t any, at least initially. But then God brought Everett Koop and Francis Schaeffer together and the battle was joined from the Protestant side. It’s not an exaggeration to say that Dr. Koop and Francis Schaeffer were the twin fathers of the modern Evangelical pro-life movement. So we praise God for the life and witness of Dr. Koop. He was there when almost no one else was. Some in the Christian Medical Society may lionize Dr. Koop at his death, but they will perhaps have forgotten Dr. Koop’s disgusted resignation from an organization he helped found for its refusal to take an officially pro-life position–a stance he maintained even after Tim’s and my father assumed its presidency for a few years in the early 80s. Despite their friendship, Dr. Koop refused Dad’s request that he rejoin. Even after passage of a clear and forceful pro-life stance, he initially refused to rejoin an organization that, as he saw it, had been cowardly on the central moral issue of the day.Dr. Koop’s life took a number of unexpected twists and turns after he became surgeon general during the Reagan administration. Who would have thought that Dr. Koop would become a darling of the AIDS advocacy movement? Yet he remained a stalwart in opposing our nation”s culture of death until the end. He ran the race well, and for his life Tim and I praise God.Dr. Koop was a friend to the Bayly family over many years. Having operated on our brothers Johnny and Nathan at birth, it was Dr. Koop who urged Mud to trust God to provide Nathan with a long and lung-impairment free life despite being born with cystic fibrosis. Indeed, Nate did survive to adulthood, becoming a pastor and father before dying from cancer a decade ago at the age of 39.I remember showing Dr. Koop my chemistry kit once when he was visiting in Bartlett in the early 70s. My methodology was to throw chemicals in a test tube and hope for an explosion–or at least a little smoke. It never happened. But Dr. Koop’s disgust with my methods came as a surprise to me. That’s not the scientific way, he scolded. You have to keep notes and have a hypothesis. You should record your results. You’re just playing like a child, he said. Well, I was discouraged until a week later when I received a package in the mail filled with slides, each labeled by Dr. Koop, containing samples of various cells, including blood and cancer varieties. I’ve still got  those slides somewere.

An Evangelical father has departed. We will miss him.

The film “Whatever happened to the human race?” did a great job of comparing the dehumanizing efforts of the slave owners and those of today’s abortion advocates. Here is  a great cartoon that makes the same comparison:

Francis Schaeffer: “Whatever Happened to the Human Race” (Episode 4) THE BASIS FOR HUMAN DIGNITY

Published on Oct 7, 2012 by

____________

——–

Minority groups could have their rights stripped away if we are ruled by 51% vote instead of the rule of law
—–

I want to say something tonight. Not many of you are black in this audience. I can’t tell if you are Puerto Rican. But if I were in the minority group in this country, tonight, I would be afraid. I’ve had big gorgeous blacks stand up in our seminars and ask, “Sir, do you think there is a racial twist to all this?” And I have to say, “Right on! You’ve hit it right on the head!” Once this door is opened, there is something to be afraid of. Christians should be deeply concerned, and I cannot understand why the liberal lawyer of the Civil Liberties Union is not scared to death by this open door towards human life. Everyone ought to be frightened who knows anything about history — anything about the history of law, anything about the history of medicine. This is a terrifying door that is open.
Abortion itself would be worth spending much of our lifetimes to fight against, because it is the killing of human life, but it’s only a symptom of the total. What we are facing is Humanism: Man, the measure of all things — viewing final reality being only material or energy shaped by chance — therefore, human life having no intrinsic value — therefore, the keeping of any individual life or any groups of human life, being purely an arbitrary choice by society at the given moment.
The flood doors are wide open. I fear both they, and too often the Christians, do not have just relativistic values (because, unhappily, Christians can live with relativistic values) but, I fear, that often such people as the liberal lawyers of the Civil Liberties Union and Christians, are just plain stupid in regard to the lessons of history. Nobody who knows his history could fail to be shaken at the corner we have turned in our culture. Remember why: because of the shift in the concept of the basic reality!

Thank you so much for your time. I know how valuable it is. I also appreciate the fine family that you have and your commitment as a father and a husband.

Sincerely,

Everette Hatcher III, 13900 Cottontail Lane, Alexander, AR 72002, ph 501-920-5733, lowcostsqueegees@yahoo.com

Implications of the Kermit Gosnell Verdict

The Kermit Gosnell Verdict: Implications for Pro-Life Lutheran Christians–A statement by LCMS Life Ministries

The Kermit Gosnell Verdict: Implications for Pro-Life Lutheran Christians

A statement by LCMS Life Ministries

May 13, 2013

After a nine-week trial, which included weeks of graphic testimony, a Pennsylvania jury found Dr. Kermit Gosnell guilty of three of four counts of first-degree murder in the deaths of babies who were born alive, but who died after their spinal cords were severed in procedures Gosnell called “abortions.” He was acquitted on the fourth murder charge. Gosnell also was convicted of involuntary manslaughter  in the botched abortion death of one mother. He faced 258 counts total, including 24 counts of performing abortions after 24 weeks gestation, which is illegal in Pennsylvania, and hundreds of charges of violating Pennsylvania’s informed consent and 24-hour waiting period laws. The jury is now in the penalty phase.

Gosnell’s murder trial became the subject of much debate nationally after pro-life activists and others criticized the mainstream media for ignoring the trial early on.

As pro-life Christians devoted to the biblical understanding of the sanctity of human life, we grieve over the tragic loss of these lives and the thousands of other children and mothers who die daily as a result of abortion. Today’s conviction of Gosnell brings justice for the many victims of this horrific abortion facility and demonstrates that abortion is clearly a slippery slope that seeks to deprive the most helpless of their basic human right: life.

The LCMS develops and promotes resources and support for pregnant women so they can avoid seeking abortions. Abortion doesn’t solve — but only masks — problems many women face and leaves many of them grieving the death of a child.

The Gosnell case generated a larger debate and rightly caused people to consider the philosophical issue of why an abortion procedure performed in utero is legal, but also how a similar act a few minutes later, outside the womb, is considered homicide.

Clearly, the case was about the death of five persons and no one can argue against the personhood of these four smaller humans. This case has exposed the ugly underbelly of the pro-abortion movement and it has brought the humanity of unborn children before the public conscience.

We call upon legislators and citizens to examine the brutality of abortion, which takes the lives of 1.2 million children every year, and the mothers who die as well. (The Center for Disease Control reports that about 400 women have died as a result of legal abortions since 1973, and 12 died in 2008, the last time such research was gathered.)

Our church aims to be a place of forgiveness, mercy and healing for all people as we continue to proclaim Christ’s comfort and truth in love. As we move forward following this ruling, we offer up our prayers for women and children in need, for families, that those still participating in the abortion industry would stop, and for our nation.

What Would Jesus Tweet About Kermit Gosnell? / By Erik Koliser

April 17, 2013 By Leave a Comment

Many evangelical Christians, pro-lifers and political conservatives are currently celebrating like New England Patriots’ party boy, Rob Gronkowski at a Las Vegas night club. And rightfully so for these conservatives “blew up” (as Business Insider puts it) the trial of abortionist, Kermit Gosnell for the last 3-4 days finally bringing this atrocious crime and trial into the spotlight and media mainstream. I guess you could say that I should be dancing with them as a fellow pro-lifer who tweeted about the media blackout several times over the last couple days with a similar agenda in mind. However, if I can be completely transparent with my evangelical, conservative friends, I find myself hesitant to do any type of fist pumping or body slamming with this so-called pro-life victory and the reason why is because of a flashback conversation I once had with a fellow Christian pro-lifer.

Let me make a few things clear before sharing this conversation. I believe that life starts at conception (Psalm 119:13,16) and that abortion is murder. I believe we live in a culture that somewhat celebrates death, or is at least immune to it, and that Christians need to celebrate life and children by all means necessary. Lazy, irresponsible, sinful, and poor excuses for men knock up their women and bully them into abortions. Selfish, idolatrous women choose to sacrifice their children in abortion so they don’t have to sacrifice their future dreams and comfortable lifestyles. Cruel, heartless doctors kill innocent babies as Satan deceives them into thinking that they are just helping their mothers.

Abortionist Kermit Gosnell, represents this and much more, as the gruesome details continue to come out in his trial. This is part of the reason why I got so excited when entering into a conversation with a fellow pro-life Christian about the things other Christians were doing to stop abortion in my city at the time and share the gospel with those who were thinking about going through with the procedure. That was until I heard the tone and attitude that this Christian portrayed when they talked about people who actually went through with the abortions. Their demeanor, tone, and words were callous, hateful, and lacked any type of compassion as the person said they did nothing for the people walking out. They spoke with grace, love, and mercy when talking to people who didn’t go through with abortions but the doctors and women who followed through with the murder of their child formerly in the womb… well, they didn’t seem to deserve that same type of grace, love, and mercy that the ones who chose life, even if the ones who chose death were blind in doing so.

The reason why this conversation, and at times the pro-life and other political movements can irk me, is not because of what they stand for, but usually what they end up fighting for in sacrifice of the gospel. Now I very well know I may be stepping on some toes here and I don’t want any pro-life Christians to misconstrue my words. I’m not cowering on issues that the Bible has made clear and I’m not afraid to call abortion murder, whether it’s in the first, second, or third trimester. I have mentioned how abortion is a sin in sermons and believe that Christians should take strong steps to reverse Roe v. Wade. I’m pro-life, but even more so pro-gospel, and sometimes the politics and emotions that carry over on this issue can be anything but a reflection of the gospel. And I’m sorry, but I can’t but help to think what Jesus would tweet in 140 characters or end his blog post with concerning these issues after reading His words with the Samaritan woman at the well, or the apostle Paul, after killing one of God’s children.

Abortion, which many look at as a social justice issue is really a gospel issue because every true social justice issue is truly a gospel issue. For example, it’s hard having faith in a Creator when you’re unrepentant to what He considers as His creation. The sacrifice of our Heavenly Father’s Son on the cross for our own sin becomes unthinkable to a parent who sacrifices their own child for their own sin. A culture that is blind to death and justifies murder will have a hard time seeing the beauty of life and wanting a resurrected life. Abortion is obviously a Gospel issue but not when the fight against abortion goes against other critical, important parts of the Gospel, specifically God’s picture of grace. And this lack of compassion and ignorance of grace is exactly why I’m semi-scared of where Christians will land when all of this Kermit Gosnell trial & media stuff boils over and the cards are shuffled into place.

It is God’s grace in the gospel, the good news that Jesus loves and died for the worst of sinners and will forgive us, that will justify us and reconcile us to a Holy God when we didn’t do anything to deserve this love or earn it that is simply unbelievable to a world in desperate need of salvation. It’s also the very thing that makes Christianity stand out from all other so-called religions. Of course, this all happens when hearing the gospel and responding to it in repentance and faith but the sad thing is that when I read all of the tweets, Facebook updates, and blog posts about Kermit Gosnell and abortion, the last thing I see is any type of desire or hope that repentance and faith would happen to Kermit Gosnell or anyone who defends abortion, late-term or not.

In fact, in the midst of this social-media-Kermit-Gosnell-storm, Brennan Manning, author of The Ragamuffin Gospel, died and I remember thinking how hypocritical us Christians looked as we tweeted out hatred for Kermit but honor for a man who would’ve said Kermit is exactly who Jesus would’ve loved.

That conversation with the pro-life, conservative Christian who didn’t want to try to reach the women walking out of the abortion clinics but only the women walking into the abortion clinic left a bad taste in my mouth because that person and many other Christians forget that the gospel is for the worst of sinners in which many of them consider abortionists to be in that category of.  Pro-lifers can lose that spirit of compassion in their call to save the physical in sacrifice for the spiritual.

As a former server in several restaurants, I had several conversations with co-workers who had abortions, many who would now admit they were wrong. As I shared the gospel with them and loved on them, they just couldn’t get past what other Christians had said and how they made them feel when going through with those abortions. In fact, it was only a month ago where I attended a pro-life breakfast where a great Christian organization that rallies churches in helping stop abortions from being done in their own community and a similar concern for the “worst of sinners” came up. After hearing the compelling call for action in churches to stand outside of the abortion clinic and try to stop women from walking in, and if possible, share the Gospel with them, a pastor in the room mentioned how he believed there was a fine line in telling these ladies truth about their decisions but also doing it in a way that will turn them off to anything Jesus has to say outside of conception and murder. He then told a story from his own congregation where a woman that’s been visiting his church for years and won’t give her life to Christ because of how other pro-life Christians treated her in the previous city that she lived in when they found out about her abortion. We all know that could be an excuse for this woman but I’m sure we’ve all seen our fair share of pro-life Christians who allowed their emotions to get the best of them when trying to fight for justice and end up looking unjust because of how they represented God’s grace and compassion in their words and actions.

I believe we can easily lose sight of God’s compassion for sinners and His grace in the gospel when we sometimes fight against an abortion culture. We brought awareness to the Kermit Gosnell trial and God’s desire for justice but have we magnified his heart for the worst of sinners as well? Right now, pro-lifers have the chance of a lifetime to show the atrocity of abortion. But will we error so far to the side of telling people “I told you it was murder” that we’ll forget to say that we love those who murder because Jesus loved them first.

1 Peter 4:7-8 says,

The end of all things is at hand; therefore be self-controlled and sober-minded for the sake of your prayers. 8 Above all, keep loving one another earnestly, since love covers a multitude of sins.”

But we can’t love people enough for their sins to be covered because we’re so focused on exposing these sins.

As Christians, part of our purpose in this culture of death is not to just save the physical lives of babies and women but to win people over to the gospel. Only then are we bringing that who are spiritually dead to life and that’s where the real culture war is won. I’m not saying we should exactly stop in the ways we’re fighting or bringing awareness to the consequences of abortion, but that we need to do a better job in championing grace along with justice that comes along with the gospel. The church has been in awkward positions before where they have to choose between fighting for justice while using certain questionable ethics or trying to share the gospel and allowing changed hearts to change policies and societies as a whole, and again, I’m not saying that we have to choose one or the other but both.

That’s why I’m not saying that we need to exactly stop protesting clinics, fighting for reversal of policies, or calling out the media for biased reporting for a pro-choice agenda. I’m just arguing that we need to show the light of God’s grace in the gospel just as much as we are trying to expose what is being done in the dark of the abortion culture. After all, it’s called scandalous grace for a reason and it doesn’t get any more scandalous than a bunch of sinners saved by grace saying that they love Kermit Gosnell despite his murderous ways and hope that he comes to a point where he repents and has faith in a Savior who will give him life out of his culture of death.

My personal prayers have shifted as I hope for justice on earth with all of those innocent babies and deceived mothers, but also with a different type of justice for those sinful souls who have been involved. A type of justice that is served with Jesus’ death on the cross in a great exchange for those who were unrighteous to become righteous, instead of the blood many of us Christians will call for concerning abortion and murder in Revelation 21:7-8. After all, us liars and idolaters are right there with Kermit Gosnell until the Grace of God we did not deserve was poured out on us.

I know, I know… how can we talk about giving grace and forgiving the people who kept severed baby feet in jars, fetuses in the refrigerator next to their lunches, and actually beheaded live born babies in the name of abortion? Bob Goff, Author of book Love Does, asked a similar question when standing face to face with a certain man in prison several years ago. Bob Goff, who I like to call “the Christian Dos Equis man” because of the crazy unbelievable adventures he’s been on, prosecuted the very first witch doctor in the country of Uganda. These witch doctors would cut off little boy’s penises in hopes that the sacrifice would please their false god. Villagers were too afraid to charge and prosecute these witch doctors for their inhumane acts against children but Bob Goff stood up for them. He even adopted one of the child victims. After charging, arresting, and prosecuting the very witch doctor who cut off the penis of his adopted son, Bob stood face to face with the witch doctor as he told Bob that he’s not worthy of forgiveness.

Bob knew it was God opening up a door to share the gospel but actually agreed with the witch doctor wanting this man to receive wrath over grace. Bob begrudgingly shared the gospel with him and the witch doctor ended up getting saved, to the conviction of Mr. Goff in his hatred toward this man for what he did to his son in this past. This witch doctor was given a platform in his Uganda jail to not only share the gospel with other prisoners but lead them to Christ, and Bob still visits the former witch doctor, now brother in Christ, in this Ugandan prison. The same scandalous grace that this witch doctor received is the same grace the abortion culture should be hearing from us, even if we don’t think they deserve it because it’s in the way of our political purposes.

It would mean loving on the women walking out of the abortion clinic just as much as we are trying to stop them from going into the abortion clinic.

It would mean hoping and praying for Kermit Gosnell to come to Christ just as much as we hope and pray that the liberal media will start covering his murder trial.

It would mean ending some tweets, Facebook posts, and blog articles about Kermit Gosnell and the abortion culture with a simple reminder that these people need Jesus more than exposure and laws in place to make what they do illegal, and that sometimes the best way to back up the words of the gospel is our actions of compassion and love.

It’s letting the world know that a great injustice was done on 3801 Lancaster St., but that justice is not just served in the courthouse, or on the front page of the newspaper, but sometimes with a God who puts that just punishment and sentence on His own perfect, righteous Son in order to free and forgive those who are guilty and deserved that punishment.

It’s preaching the gospel in grace along with a gospel in justice.

Dr. Gosnell Trial has prompted closer look at Albuquerque abortion clinic

I truly believe that many of the problems we have today in the USA are due to the advancement of humanism in the last few decades in our society. Ronald Reagan appointed the evangelical Dr. C. Everett Koop to the position of Surgeon General in his administration. He partnered with Dr. Francis Schaeffer in making the video below. It is very valuable information for Christians to have.  Actually I have included a video below that includes comments from him on this subject.

Francis Schaeffer: “Whatever Happened to the Human Race” (Episode 1) ABORTION OF THE HUMAN RACE

Published on Oct 6, 2012 by

Now that Philadelphia abortionist Kermit Gosnell has received three life terms in prison, the latest focus on late-term abortions is in Albuquerque where the conditions inside a late-term abortion clinic are not known.

Kermit Gosnell was convicted Monday of first-degree murder in the deaths of three infants born alive during late-term abortions and then killed with surgical scissors used to sever the spine. On Tuesday, he was sentenced to life in the deaths of two of those infants; the third life sentence was handed down on Wednesday.

Tara Shaver of Project Defending Life tells OneNewsNow that in considering the atrocities occurring in late-term abortions, Southwestern Women’s Options in Albuquerque should not be forgotten.

Shaver

“We’re still seeing late-term abortions done in New Mexico, and it’s just time for it to stop,” she says. “Now we have a picture of what’s actually happening inside of those clinics and it could be far worse than what was happening in Gosnell’s clinic. We just don’t know.”

In New Mexico, there are no safety and health regulations, and abortion is wide open through the ninth month of pregnancy. Shaver has been present outside the clinic when ambulances have hauled injured women to emergency rooms.

“I have documented about 15 abortion injuries stemming from the late-term clinic since 2008, which is completely staggering,” she says. “And even the medical board is unwilling to hold these doctors accountable for injuring women.”

Project Defending Life believes that in the wake of the horrors of the Gosnell clinic being revealed, New Mexico residents need to wake up to the reality of what is happening and demand action.
