Over the coming two days, one of the story lines that will be the most intriguing to follow is that of John Calipari and his quest to win his first national title.
Calipari is a polarizing figure in the sense that Kentucky fans worship him while most everyone else, with or without a rooting interest, either hates him or is accused of hating him by those same Kentucky fans. And regardless of what percentage of the college basketball watching nation feels the same as Drew Sharp does about Calipari, the bottom-line is that Calipari is quite clearly the villain in this narrative.
It’s not difficult to see why. Two of his four trips to the Final Four have been vacated by the NCAA. All you have to do is spend an afternoon at a high-level AAU tournament and you’ll hear ten stories about Calipari on the same level as the one involving $200,000 that made its way into Anthony Davis’ pocket.
The irony in all of this?
The villain has a record that is just as clean as the good guy’s, Bill Self. Those two Final Fours that were vacated? One was because Marcus Camby was commiserating with an agent. The other was because Derrick Rose cheated on his SATs. It Calipari blameless? No, but he’s about as guilty as the parents of a teenager that is busted smoking pot.

In fact, I think there is an argument to make that there is just as much smoke around the Kansas program as there is around the Kentucky program. Think about it:
– Arthur’s classmate Mario Chalmers came to Kansas as a package deal, as his father received a spot on the Jayhawk’s staff as the Director of Basketball Operations.
– Three members of this year’s recruiting class were ruled ineligible for the 2011-2012 season.
None of that has been put on Self, the same way that Calipari is still without a record, according to the NCAA.
More intriguing is the fact that the coach of last season’s national title team, Jim Calhoun, actually has gotten himself into trouble with the NCAA. He was, essentially, caught with knowledge of the fact that an alum and an NBA agent was supplying a recruit (Nate Miles) with illicit benefits. But the vitriol sent his way was more or less limited to this column from Gary Parrish of CBSSports.com.
The point here is not to defend Calipari. I’m not trying to drag Self or Calhoun through the mud, either. These are all facts, and it will be interesting to see how they are portrayed over the next 30 hours.

NEW ORLEANS – And so it comes to this: The last impediment to John Calipari’s Sherman-through-Georgia, slash-and-burn march to the national title is none other than Bill Self.
Perfect.
In a Final Four for settling scores, Calipari gets a shot at the guy who dealt him the most painful defeat of his career – the 2008 national title game. Cue the Mario Chalmers video because you’re going to be seeing his immortal shot endlessly before the teams tip off Monday.
Against Self and Kansas, Cal’s Memphis team had the game won until it collapsed at the end of regulation. A nine-point lead with 2:12 left melted into nothing when Chalmers hit a 3-pointer at the buzzer to force overtime, and the shell-shocked Tigers were done at that point.
Perhaps it was best for Memphians that the Tigers lost that game because they would have had to endure a vacated national title had they won. Memphis was stripped of that Final Four appearance by the NCAA when star point guard Derrick Rose was declared retroactively ineligible because of a fishy SAT score.
But it was a heck of a game, even if it technically never happened. A coaching rematch of the most memorable title game of the 21st century is the proper final act in a season dominated by Calipari’s Kentucky team.
He came to New Orleans seeking the national title that has eluded him throughout his controversial career. To get it, he first had to contend with his fiercest coaching rival, Rick Pitino, a man who eliminated Calipari teams in the ’96 Final Four and ’92 Sweet 16. When Kentucky held off determined Louisville 69-61 Saturday night, we had one settled score at the Four.
Monday night, Calipari can finish the payback tour with another shot at Self.
“The Memphis team was really good, no question about that,” Self said Saturday night, after his Jayhawks rallied to steal a 64-62 thriller from Ohio State. “But I think this Kentucky team is better than that Memphis team.”
That’s sobering news for the Jayhawks because this Kansas team is not as good as the ’08 Kansas team. It took another in a series of late-game escapes to reach the national title game, whereas the ’08 squad roared in off a semifinal blowout of North Carolina.
“We still haven’t played terrific in the tournament,” Self said, “but somehow these guys find ways to win games.”
The discovery of a way to win against Ohio State took until late into the night Saturday. Kansas led 2-0, then didn’t lead again until 2:48 remained. The Jayhawks’ largest lead was three points, and their total time in the lead was a puny 3:11.
That follows a pattern. Kansas never led for a second in the round of 32 against Purdue until 3:06 remained, then promptly fell behind again. It took a 6-0 run in the final 1:06 – aided and abetted by a couple of brutal Boilermakers possessions – to pull out that victory.
Between that great escape against a Big Ten opponent and this one in the Superdome, there was a three-point stagger past No. 11 seed North Carolina State in the Sweet 16 and a late pullaway from injury-depleted North Carolina in the regional final.
“These guys had to make all the plays down the stretch,” Self said.
Contrast that with Kentucky, which led for 38:09 of the 40 minutes against Louisville. The Wildcats have been dominant front-runners all season, and especially in this NCAA tourney. In 200 minutes of tournament play, UK has trailed for all of 6:43.
“Are they beatable? No question about it because Vanderbilt did it [in the SEC tourney final],” Pitino said. “But you’re going to have to play great offense, great defense, and you got to bring your ‘A plus’ game and they have to have a ‘B’ game. That’s what has to happen. They’re a great ballclub.”
So the matchup of bluebloods feels more like a big favorite and a plucky/lucky underdog. They’re the two winningest programs in college basketball history – Kentucky gunning for its eighth national title, Kansas striving for its fourth – but the talent edge is solidly in favor of the Wildcats.

The question is whether Self has the coaching edge. He has done the best work of his accomplished career getting to the title game. But Calipari might be doing his best work as well.
“Cal gets a lot of credit for recruiting,” Self said. “But the thing that I think is sometimes lost is he’s one of the very best coaches there is in the country. I mean, he can coach. And he takes guys that are so highly recruited, been told how good they are … and he gets them to buy into ‘we’ instead of ‘me.’ They’re unselfish, they’re tough, they’re physical and they guard.”

The best example of what makes Kentucky special was a small play Saturday against Louisville. With the Cardinals having battled back to tie the score at 49, turning three fan bases into a roaring force against the Wildcats, the great Anthony Davis took a contested shot against Louisville center Gorgui Dieng. He missed it badly, but hustled to the other side of the rim to collect the offensive rebound and pass it to Michael Kidd-Gilchrist for an easy layup.
College basketball is annoyingly full of highly touted teenagers who wouldn’t bother making that play. Too much work. But of all the things Davis, who will be the 2012 No. 1 pick in the NBA draft, does well, the most beautiful thing may be his willingness to hustle on every play.
“I want to get every rebound, play as hard as I can,” Davis said. “I don’t want to take no possessions off.”
The final possessions of Davis’ college career and of the entire 2012 season are upcoming Monday night. It is fitting that in John Calipari’s Final Four for settling scores, the last man blocking his path to possessing the national title is the same man who denied him four years ago.

After his duet with Rihanna, Martin joined the rest of his band for “Paradise” off Coldplay’s latest album, Mylo Xyloto. As expected, it was bombastic and over the top. But Coldplay’s strength is its live performance, and boy did the group deliver. Even the jaded Grammy audience got into it, waving multi-colored light-up wrist bands as if they were at an outdoor music festival. Calipari (and Kentucky) get Kansas again for title

NEW ORLEANS (AP) — Well, this matchup is going to look familiar.
John Calipari and his Kentucky juggernaut will face Kansas for the national championship on Monday night. That would be the same school that beat Memphis in overtime for the NCAA title in 2008, back when Calipari was coaching the Tigers.
It also would be the same Kansas team that the Wildcats beat back in November.
“We’re worried about us playing at our best,” Calipari said after Kentucky held off pesky Louisville 69-61 in the first semifinal Saturday. “We did not play at our best tonight. We played good, but that wasn’t our best. You know what? So maybe Monday is our best. We’re just worried about us.”
Top-seeded Kentucky (37-2) is back in the title game for the first time since 1998, when it won its seventh NCAA championship.
Down 13 in the first half, resilient Kansas (32-6) needed a furious comeback against Ohio State to reach the championship game, where it will play for its fourth NCAA title.
“It’s a dream to play the best team in the country, who is up until now, hands down, the most consistent,” Kansas coach Bill Self said. “It’s a thrill. And I think it’s even more of a thrill for us, because I don’t think anybody thought we could get here.”
That 2008 squad Calipari had in Memphis was stocked with talent, led by future NBA MVP Derrick Rose. But the Tigers missed four free throws down the stretch and blew a late nine-point lead in an overtime loss to Mario Chalmers and the Jayhawks.
These Wildcats, however, are in a totally different class. Anthony Davis has won just about every player of the year award there is, and Louisville coach Rick Pitino likened him to Bill Russell after Saturday night’s game.
No wonder. The 19-year-old doesn’t look like a freshman, and he certainly doesn’t play like one, recording his 20th double-double against Louisville with 18 points and 14 rebounds. He missed just one of his eight shots, and also had five blocks and a steal.
“Anthony Davis is as fine a basketball player as there is,” Pitino said.
Then there are the rest of the Wildcats.

They shot a blistering 57 percent Saturday night and had two other players besides Davis in double figures. Darius Miller scored 13 points and Doron Lamb added 10. Michael Kidd-Gilchrist had nine despite playing just 23 minutes because of foul trouble.
“Kentucky is a great basketball team, with great effort,” Pitino said.
He doesn’t need to tell the Jayhawks; they experienced it firsthand in the State Farm Champions Classic at Madison Square Garden in New York, a rare regular-season game between college basketball’s two winningest programs.
With the score tied at 30 a minute into the second half, the Wildcats broke loose with an 11-0 run. Two free throws from Tyshawn Taylor stopped the spurt, but Marquis Teague had a dunk and Doron Lamb hit consecutive 3s. Moments after an airball, Lamb drilled another 3 and Kentucky had a 54-37 with 10:05 to play.
The victory was Calipari’s first in four games against Kansas, where he began his coaching career as a volunteer assistant in 1982.
Few people would have expected the Jayhawks to earn a rematch with Kentucky after the way they scuffled through the early part of the season. They were 7-3 midway through December and struggling to find an identity after losing Marcus and Markieff Morris, their leading scorers and rebounders, as well as 3-point specialist Brady Morningstar.
But a team meeting helped Kansas find its focus, and the Jayhawks simply refuse to lose. They’ve lost just two games since Feb. 7, and keep eking out wins in the NCAA tournament.
“It’s pretty cool to have the winningest program of all time and the second-winningest program of all time hooking up on Monday night,” Self said.
On Saturday night, the Jayhawks scored the first bucket but didn’t lead again until Travis Releford made two free throws with 2:48 left. That lead lasted for all of 11 seconds, but the second-seeded Jayhawks overcame another deficit and finally held on against the Buckeyes (31-8).
Taylor’s two free throws with 8.3 seconds left gave Kansas a 64-61 lead, matching its biggest of the game. The Jayhawks intentionally fouled Aaron Craft with 2.9 seconds left. Craft made the first, then quickly clanked the second one off the front of the rim on purpose but was called for a lane violation as he darted in to grab the rebound.
Kansas dribbled out the clock, and the rematch was on.
“These guys have matured a lot and played a ton of minutes this year, so they’re far more experienced than some would be just because of the situations they’ve been in,” Jayhawks guard Elijah Johnson said. “We kind of played on borrowed time a little bit, but I think it gives the guys confidence that no matter what, we’re OK.”

San Antonio, TX — (Sports Network) – Mario Chalmers hit the tying three-pointer with 2.1 seconds left in regulation and Kansas rallied from a nine-point deficit late in the second half to beat Memphis, 75-68, in overtime to win the national championship.The Tigers, who came into the game shooting 61 percent from the foul line, missed four crucial free throws in the final 1:15 of regulation, opening the door for Kansas (37-3) to win the NCAA Tournament for the third time in school history – joining the 1952 and 1988 teams. “You couldn’t have written it any better,” Kansas guard Russell Robinson said. “It’s great. We let it out there on the line. It was two teams out there competing. There’s no way you can write it better.”Freshman sensation Derrick Rose, who had 15 of his 18 points in the second half, was held to zero in overtime for Memphis (38-2), which was outscored by a 24-8 stretch to end the game.
“I thought we were national champs, and that’s the great thing about college basketball and sports,” Memphis coach John Calipari said. “Within 30 seconds, they make a play and it’s OT and it’s on again. Darrell Arthur had 20 points and 10 rebounds for the Jayhawks, while Brandon Rush scored 12 and Sherron Collins contributed 11 points and six assists. Chris Douglas-Roberts had 22 points for the Tigers, who finished 12-of-19 at the charity stripe. Rose also had eight assists, and Robert Dozier contributed 11 points and 10 rebounds in defeat.Rose, who was ailing with an upset stomach on Sunday, was just 1-of-4 from the field in the first half, but the 6-foot-3 guard dominated play late in the second half. He had 10 straight Memphis points in one stretch, when the Tigers turned a 47-46 deficit into a 56-49 lead. The final jumper in that run was an incredible step-back, shot clock buzzer-beater from the left wing with just over four minutes remaining.

That basket was originally ruled a three, but was later crucially reviewed and moved to a two-pointer, which was it turns out played a huge role in the outcome.”Our offense was stale, we got down nine, but we got a big break when the three went to two and nobody knew it at the time,” Kansas coach Bill Self said. “We made so many plays down the stretch. We got the ball in our most clutch player’s hands and he delivered.”
Two free throws from Dozier expanded Memphis’ lead to 60-51 with 2:12 left.
Arthur then hit a jumper and Collins made a steal and drilled a three from the right corner. Douglas-Roberts came back with two foul shots with 1:39 left, but then it all fell apart for the Conference USA champions. Chalmers hit two foul shots, and after Douglas-Roberts missed the front end of a 1-and-1, Arthur’s jumper with a minute left had Kansas within 62-60.
A missed wild shot in the lane by Douglas-Roberts led to a break from Kansas at the other end, but Collins lost the ball on the way up, and the Tigers could have put away the win at the charity stripe on two other occasions.
Douglas-Roberts was fouled with 16.8 seconds to go. However, the junior guard missed both attempts, and even after Dozier got the offensive rebound, Rose was only able to sink 1-of-2 foul shots with 10.8 ticks left.
“All along people have been talking about how bad a free-throw shooting team they are,” Chalmers said. “Coach Self told us to foul a couple of their worst shooters. We got lucky. Chris missed two free throws. Derrick Rose missed one free throw. That was a big thing for us. We just took that and ran with it.”
Chalmers then spotted up for the dramatic three-pointer from the top of the arc, and when Dozier missed a half-court shot, the game went into OT tied at 63.
“I had a good look at it,” Chalmers said. “Sherron gave me a good pass when they collapsed on him. When it left my hands I felt it was good. It just went in.”
“I saw it was going in,” Douglas-Roberts said. “It hurt, but we had another five minutes to play. I didn’t think we lost the game when he made that shot.”
The Tigers were also hurt by the strong inside play of Kansas, which held a 44-26 advantage of points in the paint. Not only that, but Memphis forward Joey Dorsey, who had 15 rebounds against UCLA on Saturday, fouled out and wasn’t able to be a factor in overtime.
“We were running uphill from that point on without having Joey Dorsey on the court,” Calipari said.
The Tigers shot 1-of-8 from the field in OT.
A Collins layup started OT and then Chalmers delivered a perfect lob to Arthur for an alley-oop jam. Antonio Anderson then missed a three-pointer for Memphis, and it became a six-point difference on Darnell Jackson’s layup.
Douglas-Roberts’ three-pointer with 56.8 seconds left in OT ended a Memphis stretch of better than 6 1/2 minutes without a field goal and had the Tigers within 71-68.
Chalmers then hit two free throws with 45.1 seconds to go for a five-point difference, and Douglas-Roberts missed a layup. Collins then turned the ball over, but Douglas-Roberts was off the mark on a three-point try, and Collins’ two foul shots with 18.2 ticks left sealed Memphis’ fate.
The Tigers, who set an NCAA Division I record for wins in a season, were denied their first title in their second championship game.
The Tigers dictated the play early with a 9-3 lead, but Kansas came right back with the next six. Later, Rush’s lob to Arthur for a jam moved the KU lead to 22-15.
Douglas-Roberts drilled a three-pointer to give Memphis the lead back at 26-24, capping an 11-2 spurt.
Arthur’s hook in the lane fell through for a 33-28 Kansas lead, which was the score at the half.
It was a lightning-quick pace for both teams early in the second half, but neither squad could take command. Both teams played a frantic back-and-forth pace for about the first six minutes of the half. Rush’s layup had Kansas ahead 47-44, and Dozier came back with a shot in the lane with 8:50 left, but couldn’t convert the free throw. With Kansas showing a zone defense, Rose then gave Memphis a 49-47 edge with a straight-on three-pointer with 8:10 left.
Rose had 14 of Memphis’ 16 points during a stretch in the second half.

House Energy and Commerce Chairman Fred Upton (R-MI) visited Heritage yesterday and sat down to talk about the high price of gasoline and why more energy production is the answer.
The House of Representatives did pass the bill that the Congressman is talking about but the Senate killed it. H.R. 2021, the Jobs and Energy Permitting Act of 2011
The bill would eliminate needless permitting delays that have stalled important energy production opportunities off the coast of Alaska. Rather than having exploration air permits repeatedly approved and rescinded by the agency and its review board, the EPA will be required to take final action – granting or denying a permit – within six months. The Jobs and Energy Permitting Act of 2011 would speed up the permit process to help create jobs.

Liberals like Max Brantley of the Arkansas Times Blog have always been critical of any votes that would encourage more oil exploration in Alaska, but it is time to do so. We have to get these gas prices down. Take a look at this fine article from the Heritage Foundation:
There are an estimated 27 billion barrels of oil waiting to be tapped in the Arctic Ocean, off the coast of Alaska. But after spending five years and nearly $4 billion, Shell Oil Company has been forced to abandon its efforts to drill for oil in the region.
With gas at $4 per gallon and higher, one might think that more oil would be a good thing. So what’s the road block? The Environmental Protection Agency. Fox News reports that the EPA is withholding necessary air permits because of a one square mile village of 245 people, 70 miles from the off-shore drilling site. From Fox News’ Dan Springer:
The EPA’s appeals board ruled that Shell had not taken into consideration emissions from an ice-breaking vessel when calculating overall greenhouse gas emissions from the project. Environmental groups were thrilled by the ruling.
“What the modeling showed was in communities like Kaktovik, Shell’s drilling would increase air pollution levels close to air quality standards,” said Eric Grafe, Earthjustice’s lead attorney on the case.
The Environmental Appeals Board has four members: Edward Reich, Charles Sheehan, Kathie Stein and Anna Wolgast. All are registered Democrats and Kathie Stein was an activist attorney for the Environmental Defense Fund. Members are appointed by the EPA administrator.
President Barack Obama said in his weekly address on Saturday that “there’s no silver bullet that can bring down gas prices right away,” but that one thing America can do is pursue “safe and responsible production of oil at home.” Too bad his words and his actions are not one and the same. Aside for the EPA’s decision on Shell, the Obama administration has imposed a months-long moratorium on deepwater offshore drilling that curtailed domestic production and sent some seven drilling rigs elsewhere.
The Heritage Foundation’s Nicolas Loris recommends the following actions for Congress and President Obama if they truly want to expand access to America’s domestic energy supply:
Allow access to domestic reserves. Permitting exploration of reserves in Alaska, Colorado, Wyoming, and federal waters offshore would inject confidence into the market, create jobs, and stimulate the economy.
Roll back regulatory burdens on companies. Strapping companies with onerous regulatory processes only hinders access. Litigation opportunities should be limited and the permitting process made more rational.
Issue offshore drilling permits. Lifting the de facto moratorium on offshore drilling permits would gain companies access to domestic resources and increase our domestic energy supply.

LECTURE OUTLINE
I. The fourth principle that non-theists attack is the analogical use of language. The first three are the law of non-contradiction, causality, and the basic reliability of sense perceptions.
II. The God-Talk Controversy or Theothanatology
a) In the late sixties, philosophers and theologians announced the death of God. The crisis came from the philosophy of logical positivism.
i. The Law of Verification
ii. “Only statements that can be verified empirically can be stated as true.”
iii. Illustration: Gold in Alaska
iv. Analogical Use of Language
b) The law of verification can’t be verified empirically. Thus ended this school of thought. But its assertions remain and should be challenged.
III. Some Christians take pride in the inability of non-theists to disprove their experiences or personal faith in God.
a) But ideas that cannot be disproved can also not be proved. This is “cheating.”

c) Within formal logic (such as the law of non-contradiction), it is not difficult to disprove a point.
IV. How does logical positivism impact us today? And from whence did it come?
a) Statements about God, according to the logical positivists, are merely emotive. Illustration: College Student and Significant Hymns
b) What is behind such a pessimistic approach to God? 19th and 20th century redefinitions of historic Christianity into naturalistic terms.
c) These naturalistic philosophers no longer needed God in their system because they suggested spontaneous generation as the means of creation of the universe.
d) This also entailed a rejection of the supernatural.
e) The theology that prevailed was pantheistic—God exists as part of the universe. This inability to speak about God as separate from His creation provoked the controversy that led to an overreaction—God is wholly other.
f) Rather than being one with nature, God is totally above and beyond nature.
This idea salvages God’s transcendence, but ruins our ability to know God.
Freshman Anthony Davis lived up to his billing as national player of the year with 18 points, 14 rebounds and five blocks in the win over Louisville. He was 7 of 8 from the field and added to his personal highlight reel with a one-handed dunk off an alley-oop pass and a flying leap off the court and over a row of media. One real positive was the way he called for the ball in the post in the second half as the Wildcats struggled from the perimeter.
COACH
This will be John Calipari’s second championship game. His first was with Memphis four years ago – an overtime loss to Kansas and coach Bill Self. Calipari’s strategy of not fouling with the lead before a 3-point shot could be attempted was questioned as Mario Chalmers buried a late 3 to tie the game and force overtime. Calipari did win the last meeting against Self, 75-65, at Madison Square Garden in the second game of the season.
KEY POINT
Kentucky’s roster is still loaded with NBA-level talent, but the Wildcats didn’t look like the offensive juggernaut it had been throughout the NCAA tournament, failing to reach the 80-point mark for the first time. But the defense was just as good, if not better, holding Louisville to 34.8 percent shooting from the field, a stat the Wildcats led the nation in this season. One player who will be looking to make amends will be freshman Michael Kidd-Gilchrist who was limited to 23 minutes because of foul trouble but still managed a couple of big dunks as the Wildcats took control in the final minutes.

ROAD TO THE TITLE GAME
No. 2 Kansas beat No. 15 Detroit 65-50; beat No. 10 Purdue 63-60; No. 11 North Carolina State 60-57; No. 1 North Carolina 80-67; beat No. 2 Ohio State 64-62.
STAR
Thomas Robinson took over the semifinal in the second half, finishing with 19 points and eight rebounds. It was his presence inside that allowed the Jayhawks to finish with a 42-30 rebound advantage and stymied Ohio State’s frontcourt of Jared Sullinger and Deshaun Thomas, who were a combined 8 for 33 from the field. This matchup pits him against Davis, his competition for national player of the year.
COACH
Bill Self has a chance to join the select group of multiple championship coaches. He is 3-0 in his two Final Four appearances, and the latest win looked a lot like the Jayhawks’ others in this tournament – they found a way to win. Not much of a spotlight grabber, Self is considered one of the best in-game coaches, and his teams are known for the ability to shake off a poor first half, usually with a better defensive performance.
KEY POINT
Robinson did what is expected of him in the win over Ohio State; 7-foot center Jeff Withey had eight rebounds and seven assists; and Elijah Johnson added 13 points and 10 rebounds – a big effort from the guard who doesn’t get most of the attention. Tyshawn Taylor, the guard who’s considered Robinson’s co-star, had 10 points and nine assists. He also had five turnovers – including a potential devastating one with 3.8 seconds left – and was 0 for 3 from 3-point range, leaving him 0 for 20 from beyond the arc in the tournament.
THE SKINNY
These are the two winningest programs in college basketball history. Each has an all-America big man and guards capable of taking over a game. The coaches are on most short lists of the best in the sport. This game has all the angles covered. Come on, what more do you want?
THE PICK
Most of the bracket sheets that haven’t been shredded still have Kentucky, the overall No. 1 seed, winning it all. The dream scenario would be for Kentucky to have a slim lead with the clock ticking down. The flashbacks to San Antonio in 2008 would be popping into everyone’s mind. Why not the same result? Kansas 73-71.

On several occasions this season, Kentucky Coach John Calipari counseled fans not to root against any other team. “Even Duke?” one caller to his weekly radio show asked.
Yes, even Duke,
And even archrival Louisville, which plays Kentucky on Saturday in the national semifinals, would be best viewed dispassionately.
To root against a team is to risk a cosmic balancing of the scales, the UK coach said. Fate could be cruel in a boomerang kind of way.
“I just don’t think it’s good that you root against other teams,” Calipari said in Thursday’s Final Four interview session. “I just think if you start rooting against another team and you’re a fan of ours, turn the TV off. Walk to the other room. Make yourself a coffee. And go for a walk with the dog. Do something.

Unwittingly or not, Calipari, a practicing Catholic who also attends a Methodist church on Sundays, follows a Buddhist path by stressing performance rather than purely victory.
“The only thing you can control is how you do something,” Leaman said of the Buddhist philosophy. “That’s different from the West, which is result oriented.”
Safe to say, UK fans are result oriented, especially so Saturday.
