“Music Monday” Countdown of Coldplay’s best albums (part 2)

I think that Viva La Vida is their 4th best CD. It is balanced better than all of their albums. This CD had many songs that were very similar. Although this album has their only number one hit in the US, Viva La Vida. I loved “VIVA LA VIDA” “VIOLET HILL” “LIFE IN TECHNICOLOR” “YES” “42” LOVERS IN JAPAN” “STRAWBERRY SWING”! I would give this album a 9/10!

“Music Monday” Countdown of Coldplay’s best albums (part 1)

I like this CD a lot mainly because of it rhythm and how it is the most relaxing of Coldplay’s albums. “YELLOW” “SHIVER” “DON’T PANIC” “TROUBLE” “SPARKS” are all great songs. I would have to say that Parachutes was a good song but it was too short. Altogether I would give this album a 9/10! However, this is the 5th best album of Coldplay. Next Monday I will reveal the 4th best album. Wilson Hatcher

Debut new song ‘Charlie Brown’

June 6, 2011

Coldplay debuted a handful of new songs at the Rock am Ring festival in Nürburg, Germany yesterday, including this uptempo number called “Charlie Brown.” If there was every going to be a rock band to name a chiming, anthemic rock song after Charles Schultz’s perpetually glum and clumsy comic strip character, it would have to be Coldplay, right? It’s a very earnest song, but there’s a charming, self-aware bit of humor in Chris Martin invoking the iconic Peanuts sad sack.

Coldplay, ‘Every Teardrop Is a Waterfall’ – Song Review

by: Amy Sciarretto June 3, 2011
Coldplay SingleEMI/Capitol

Coldplay‘s brand new single ‘Every Teardrop Is a Waterfall’ is as big as its title suggests. It is not a ballad, but an uplifting, room-filling Brit pop song laced with the band’s rock ‘n’ roll edge.

While Coldplay have endured plenty of Radiohead comparisons throughout their career, they’ve turned the corner here, going for stadium-sized hooks a la U2 with this bold, bright, guitar-driven new song that is steered by Martin’s inimitable voice. Thanks to its massive size and scope, the four-minute monster more than makes up for all the time fans had to wait for new music from the band.

At about the three-minute mark, ‘Every Teardrop Is a Waterfall’ balloons with layered harmonies and faster guitar work. It’s as though vocalist (and Gwyneth Paltrow baby daddy) Chris Martin wrote the song with the express intent of performing in a stadium or at the Olympics. (Ahem — the 2012 Olympics will be held in London, so…)

When Martin sings, “I turn the music / I got my records on / I shut the world outside until the lights come on / Maybe the streets alright / Maybe the trees are gone / I feel my heart start beating to my favorite song,” he pulls us into his world, where everything around you fades into the background while you focus on what you hear in your headphones. Speaking of which, you will pick up all the nuances of sound via a pair of earbuds.

The song doesn’t fade out, either. It ends on a percussive note. You’ll want to listen to it over and over again. It’s a gorgeous mix of Coldplay’s knack for pretty melodies mixed with some escalating guitar work, despite not being nearly as polished as the band’s previous pop songs.

The song comes in like a lion and goes out like one, too

I was very interested in the first single that came out from Coldplay a few weeks ago, but this second single escaped my attention. Then this morning my son Hunter told me all about this second song and he said that something in the song may be talking about God.

I told you guys earlier that in 2008 Coldplay and Chris in particular was on a spiritual search. I predicted that it would continue. With the song “Major Minus” we have some very interesting lyrics. Take a look:

They got one eye on what you knew

And one eye on what you do
So be careful who it is you’re talking to

They got one eye on what you knew
And one eye on what you do
So be careful what it is you’re trying to do

And be careful when you’re walking in the view
Just be careful when you’re walking in the view!

Ooh-oooh-oooh
Ooh-oooh-oooh-ooh
Got one eye on the road and one on you!

Ooh-oooh-oooh
Ooh-oooh-oooh-ooh
Got one eye on the road and one on

They got one eye on what you knew
And one eye on what you do
So be careful ’cause nothing they say is true

But they don’t believe a word
It’s just us against the world
And we just gotta turn up to be heard

Hear those crocodiles ticking ’round the world
Hear those crocodiles ticking (they go) ticking ’round the world

Ooh-oooh-oooh
Ooh-oooh-oooh-ooh
Got one eye on the road and one on you!
Ooh-oooh-oooh
Ooh-oooh-oooh-ooh
Got one eye on the road.

She can’t hear them climbing the stairs
I got my right side fighting
While my left eye’s on the chairs

Ooh-oooh-oooh
Ooh-oooh-oooh-ooh
Got one eye on the road and one on you!

Ooh-oooh-oooh
Ooh-oooh-oooh-ooh
Got one eye on the road and one on you

___________________________________

Here are the main points of the song.

1. Heaven is watching us constantly. (They got one eye on what you knew,And one eye on what you do)

2. We should be careful because what we do does matter to God. (And be careful when you’re walking in the view, Just be careful when you’re walking in the view!)

3. There are dangers in this world that you must avoid because they will eat you up.(Hear those crocodiles ticking ’round the world, Hear those crocodiles ticking (they go) ticking ’round the world )

4.Chris Martin’s plan is to keep one eye on the road ahead and one on the wife that he loves. (Got one eye on the road and one on you!)

Coldplay to Perform at ‘Live on Letterman’

by: Cristin Maher 3 weeks ago

On Sept. 20, world renowned British rock group Coldplay will perform at ‘Live on Letterman’ at 8PM EST. Although ‘Live on Letterman’ is filmed in New York, Coldplay fans will be able to experience the live performance through a webcast of the show.

The Coldplay ‘Live on Letterman’ performance will be broadcasted on CBS Radio, where fans can either watch and listen to the show live, or catch the show on demand at a later date. If you happen to be in the New York area, ‘Live on Letterman’ is taped at the Ed Sullivan Theater, so you might be able to catch a glimpse of the Brits if you head over to that area on Sept. 20.

The ‘Live on Letterman’ broadcast will follow Coldplay’s taping of ‘Late Night With David Letterman,’ where the quartet will perform on set. The show will televise at 11:37PM EST on Sept. 20, so be sure to tune in to that as well if you’re a fan.

Coldplay will release their fifth studio album ‘Mylo Xyloto’ on Oct. 24, and the album will feature their new hit single ‘Every Teardrop Is a Waterfall.’
