Dear Mr. President,

I know that you receive 20,000 letters a day and that you actually read 10 of them every day. I really do respect you for trying to get a pulse on what is going on out here. I know you are not pro-life but I wanted to share some pro-life material with you regardless.

If you want to understand why the evangelical pro-life movement then you need to read the material from Francis Schaeffer. That is what I did.

Francis Schaeffer and C. Everett Koop’s Invaluable Impact on Pro-Life Evangelicalism

By Dr. Richard Land

It is difficult to overestimate the incredible impact that Francis Schaeffer and Dr. C. Everett Koop made on evangelical Christians in the latter third of the 20th century. First Schaeffer, and then Dr. Koop, helped inform and energize a whole generation of evangelical Christians to engagement with a culture that had veered dangerously off course from its Judeo-Christian foundations. The pro-life movement owes them an enormous debt.

This culture’s collective loss of its moral compass was nowhere more dramatically revealed than in the rapid implosion of its historic pro-life consensus in the late 1960s culminating in the infamous Roe v. Wade Supreme Court decision in January 1973, and the pro-death culture of moral relativism it both symbolized and facilitated.

Francis Schaeffer exploded on the evangelical world in the 1960s. Having interacted from an evangelical theological foundation with the European world of modern philosophy through his and his wife’s ministry at their L’Abri home and retreat center in Switzerland, Schaeffer was well-prepared to lead evangelicals to a new and deeper understanding of the titanic clash of differing world views swirling around them.

Returning to the United States in the mid-1960s, Schaeffer electrified evangelical students with his lectures and books (largely based on the lectures) such as The God Who Is There (1968), Escape From Reason (1968), He is There and He is Not Silent (1972) and Back to Freedom and Dignity (1973), which was a stirring refutation of behavioral psychologist B.F. Skinner’s Beyond Freedom and Dignity.

As an evangelical Princeton University undergraduate in the late 1960s, I, like so many in my generation, was electrified and galvanized by Schaeffer’s challenge to rejoin the contemporary cultural and philosophical debate armed with what he called “true truth” that was true not only in our personal and church lives, but in every area of our existence 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

Armed with Schaeffer’s guide and atlas of the intellectual terrain, tens of thousands of evangelical students felt called to a life of ministry in the intellectual world of scholarship and cultural discourse. Schaeffer gave us a cultural grid for both understanding and interacting with a culture increasingly hostile to Christian presuppositions of truth and moral absolutes.

Francis Schaeffer has often been criticized in recent years for “oversimplifying” and for “simplistic generalizations.” These criticisms miss the point of Schaeffer’s significance.

Schaeffer was a “thinker” more than a “scholar.” Where the “scholar” is haunted by the exception, the “thinker” is comfortable with the general rule and is more concerned with the big picture rather than the particulars of every case. The scholar sees the world largely through the microscope of his particular field of study, while the thinker views the world through a telescope that enables one to see general trends and seismic shifts in cultures and civilizations. Francis Schaeffer was the premier evangelical Christian “thinker” of the last half-century.

Nowhere did Francis Schaeffer see the big picture more clearly than on the issue of abortion and the brutalizing and dehumanizing impact of the pro-abortion movement and the philosophical presupposition upon which it was based.

Schaeffer had always opposed abortion, but the issue took on a new urgency for him in the wake of the Supreme Court’s declaration of abortion as a constitutional right in Roe v. Wade. With the help and encouragement of his son, Franky, Schaeffer produced a 10-part documentary film series and an accompanying book entitled How Should We Then Live? The Rise and Decline of Western Thought and Culture (1976).

Intended in part as a response to Kenneth Clark’s very popular Civilization series, How Should We Then Live? was an extended look at how Western Civilization’s rejection of Judeo-Christian moral values had led to the neo-pagan devaluing of human life as symbolized in the pro-abortion movement. The book, film series and accompanying 18-city seminar tour were a huge success and electrified the general evangelical public in much the same way his earlier work had stirred the evangelical university and seminary world.

Schaeffer increasingly devoted himself to the pro-life issue and almost immediately began work on a five-part film series and accompanying book and lecture tour with old family friend and world-renowned pediatric surgeon Dr. C. Everett Koop. The resulting Whatever Happened to the Human Race? (1979) combined Schaeffer’s trenchant and powerful explanation of secular humanism’s inexorable devaluation of human life with Dr. Koop’s medically expert testimony to the horror that was abortion and its inevitable path to infanticide and euthanasia.

Once again, Schaeffer and Koop galvanized the evangelical general public and challenged them to become actively involved at every level of the pro-life movement. The combination of Schaeffer’s theological and philosophical critique with Dr. Koop’s medical expertise and international reputation as a surgeon and scientist had a powerful impact on evangelicalism from coast to coast.

They asked the questions that moved hundreds of thousands of evangelicals from the sidelines into the arena of the pro-life struggle: “If not you, then whom?” “If not this outrage, then what?” “If not now, then when?”

Dr. Koop went on to become President Reagan’s Surgeon-General, elevating both that office and the pro-life issue in an unprecedented way in the eight years of his service. It is impossible to imagine an overwhelmingly pro-life American evangelicalism, and its unprecedented involvement in public policy on that issue, without the impact and leadership of these two towering figures.

Everyone devoted to the pro-life cause owes an incalculable debt of gratitude to Francis Schaeffer and to Dr. C. Everett Koop.

Thank you so much for your time. I know how valuable it is. I also appreciate the fine family that you have and your commitment as a father and a husband.

Jason Rapert pictured below:

I have noticed that a good Christian man like State Senator Jason Rapert of Conway, Arkansas has been falsely accused of racism for a 2011 speech to the Tea Party in Little Rock, but now even many liberal journalists like John Brummett have admitted that there was nothing racial at all in his speech. It is true that several national  national publications like the Huffington Post, NY Magazine, and other liberal blogs were misled  by this video hack job on Jason Rapert done by The Nation, but now several national articles have surfaced admitting there is no racial element in Rapert’s 2011 speech.

Obviously what was behind this attack on Senator Rapert was the anger many pro-abortion forces had for the pro-life bill he was proposing and the pro-abortion forces were willing to present a video hack job of his 20 minute speech to falesly accuse him of racism.

In the film “Abortion of the Human Race” in the film series “Whatever happened to the Race?” by Francis Schaeffer and Dr. C. Everett Koop the issue of slavery and the Dred Scott Supreme Court decision is compared to the Roe v. Wade decision of January 22, 1973 when unborn children were not recognized as human beings. I wish everyone reading this would take just 45 minutes and watch this film.

Francis Schaeffer: “Whatever Happened to the Human Race” (Episode 1) ABORTION OF THE HUMAN RACE

Published on Oct 6, 2012 by

Francis Schaeffer

Francis Schaeffer really got the evangelicals like John MacArthur and R.C.Sproul to get involved in the pro-life movement. I am very grateful that he was sensitive enough to see what was coming down the pike at such an early time. In fact, my former pastor Dr. Bill Elliff actually saw Schaeffer speak about the upcoming legalization of abortion back in 1970.

On 2-5-13 while discussing  Rapert’s pro-life bill the person using the username “WhatAmberLoves,” commented on the Arkansas Times Blog:

Slavery, once “legal”, was abolished. Segregation, once “legal”, was abolished. Humans inflicting pain and killing their own unborn children, currently legal, will hopefully soon be abolished as well.

To the author and commenters opposing the bills: While Mr. Brantley and supporters are busy facilitating ending the life of conceived yet unborn children, the rest of us are multiplying successfully, raising the next wave of future voters and doing our best to simultaneously minimize our children’s exposure to their message that humans killing offspring is acceptable. Mr. Brantley and some of the commenters on this article seem to want the rest of us in a modern, evolved society to think that it is acceptable behavior for humans to destroy their unborn children.

On the Abolitionist Society of North Carolina facebook page I saw a picture of a billboard that said, “The KKK lynched 3500 African Americans. Planned Parenthood kills that many unborn African Americans every couple of months.”

Louis C.K. plays Abraham Lincoln on an episode of Saturday Night Live on 11-2-12. In this scene Lincoln is doing stand up comedy in New York. Louis said, “One thing I am really tired of is arguing with slave owners about slavery. ‘Oh but I like owning people,’ they will say. You have to act like you are kind of cool with it. You have to act like this is a 50/50 issue. YOU KNOW I KINDA THINK THAT OWNING A PERSON IS NOT COOL!!!!

__________

Lincoln was right to fight for the right for blacks to receive the same rights of personhood that we all have today in the sight of the U.S. government. The same should be true for the unborn children in our country today.

_______

Paul Greenberg, editor of the Arkansas Democrat-Gazette once was pro-abortion but now he is pro-life. He said to the Human Life Foundation at the Union League Club in New York City the following:

The trick is to speak of fetuses, not unborn children. So long as the victims are a faceless abstraction, anything can be done to them.

Just don’t look too closely at those sonograms. The way I studied the first pictures of my first grandson. Astounding. We are indeed strangely and wonderfully made.

By now the toll has reached some 50 million of those wondrous creations aborted in America since 1973. That’s not some abstract theory or philosophical argument.

It is a fact, and facts are stubborn things. Some even carry their own imperatives, moral imperatives that can be ignored only so long. So I changed my mind, and changed sides.

We’ve become very good at preaching to the converted, those of us who still believe in life. So good at it we may have forgotten what Martin Luther King Jr.

tried to teach us-that we have a hidden ally in the hearts of our opponents. And we must never cease appealing to it. They are not our enemies, but allies in waiting.

They have consciences. They may yet come around. I did.

All you people aren’t supposed to be here tonight, you know. Don’t you realize this issue was settled years ago, decades ago? Haven’t you heard of Roe v. Wade? Don’t you know we’re fighting for a lost cause? Abortion on demand is the law of the land. And always will be.

So we’re told. Just as a different generation of Americans was told that Dred Scott v. Sandford was the law of the land. The slavery question had been settled once and for all. All the states were nowgoing to be slave states. When it came to having any rights, Negro slaves were but chattel-property like any other. Case closed. To paraphrase my favorite line from a Ring Lardner short story: Shut up, they explained.

Those old-time abolitionists and Republicans and Free-Soil Democrats and Antislavery Whigs-whose portraits decorate these walls-were a motley crew, as variegated as we are here tonight. They, too, were fighting for a supposedly hopeless cause, that of freedom. As we fight for life. But they understood something the sophisticates of their time didn’t:

No good cause is forever lost.

_________

Recently I ran across this great speech given by a member of a pro-life group in North Carolina. He gave the speech and put it on you tube and it compares the rights of the unborn child today to those of the slaves during civil war time in the USA.

Preaching in Uptown Charlotte on the American Holocaust on January 22, 2013.

January 22, 2013 marked the 40th anniversary of Roe v. Wade, the Supreme Court decision that institutionalized abortion on demand in America. This has been an intense week for those engaged in the battle for life in the culture of death. I have been very encouraged by what I am seeing take place in the Christian community, though there is much more to be done if abortion is to ever be abolished. On Tuesday, I posted the following on facebook:

I am encouraged by my fb feed today as it has been swamped with talk of RvW and abolishing abortion. I have seen folks posting on the issue that I have not see posting before, including various ministry leaders. Other leaders are becoming more vocal, and I am so grateful for that. My hope is that engaging the culture of death will become “mainstream” in the true church of Jesus Christ, and I am encouraged by what I am seeing. It does seem like the Body of Christ is waking up, and that is worthy of acknowledgment and praise to the Lord. I just hope we hear more from those who had something to say today many more times before January 22, 2014, and that they will take steps to become more active to minister to abortion-minded parents and our pre-born neighbors. The love of Christ commands this of us.

With this in mind, I’d like to share some resources with you that may be an encouragement for you to become active in the necessary fight against abortion. It is time for the church to wake up and answer the call to love our pre-born neighbors as ourselves. Many are doing just that, but we must continue talking about, preaching against it, and ministering to those enslaved to sin who would sacrifice their own children on the altar of self.

On the 40th anniversary of Roe v. Wade, I preached the following message in Uptown Charlotte:

Across the street from where I preached, Cities4Life held their annual memorial service in Uptown Charlotte. It was a great turnout and encouragement to Christians in our city to mobilize to engage the culture of death with the Gospel of Jesus Christ. Make sure you watch until the end as David Benham, founder of Cities4Life, truly brings this crisis into perspective:

http://www.facebook.com/photo.php?v=527485520605279

R.C. Sproul sat down with John MacArthur on January 22 to discuss the holocaust of abortion in America. MacArthur really spoke to the needed call to our churches when he said,

Our goal has to be to awaken the church.

Amen, and that is one of the goals of Abolish Human Abortion.  Make sure you check out the AHA website, Youtube, and facebook pages.  If you are in North Carolina, “like” the Abolitionist Society of North Carolina page and stay tuned for our AHANC website launch.

Even if you do not have an abortion mill near your community, you can get some Abolish Human Abortion gear at AHAGear.com, or print some of these posters and stand on a street corner in your city. They just might open a door for you to declare the Gospel to someone, which is the only answer to abortion.

A few weeks ago, I posed the question: Would You Seek the Abolition of Pedophilia?  So there it is again in case you missed it.

Jesse Johnson shared his thoughts over at The Cripplegate on what the Abortion Memorial might look like after abortion is abolished in America.

A branch of Cities4Life just launched that will serve to equip Christians to minister at their local abortion mills. Check out Sidewalks4Life for more details.

If you live near Charlotte, join us on February 1-2 for Frontline Training. This is a great way to learn how to minister at abortion mills, and there will be practical experience to be gained as we lead the class to the abortion mill next Saturday morning.  Check out the facebook event page or see the Cities4Life blog for more details.

I am currently reading Francis Schaeffer’s A Christian Manifesto, and will then read Whatever Happened to the Human Race. These are both must reads if you want to understand what Christianity looks like in a culture that kills its own children – and what we must do to stop it.

At Ligonier, R.C. Sproul Jr. published Roe v. Wade: A Generation Lost, and concluded with the following:

We must be politically active. We must serve moms in crisis. We must speak prophetically to both the world and the church, remembering that one in six abortions is procured by an evangelical. First, however, we must weep. First, our hearts have to be broken, lest our pro-life activities lead us to forget. First we must repent because for a generation we have thought and acted like a movement, while every day babies are being murdered. First we must recognize that the problem isn’t how many were killed over the past forty years, but is instead how many will be killed in the next forty minutes. We must pledge not to not forget what has happened, but to not forget what is happening. Last we must remember that there is only one thing that can wash the blood from our hands, the blood from His.

Crown Rights Media is currently developing a new documentary on abortion that will serve to stir the church to action. The trailer can be seen at Babiesaremurderedhere.com, and also like the facebook fan page. Please spread the word. Everywhere.

Finally, while filming for the Babies Are Murdered Here documentary, Marcus Pittman snapped the following photo of Orlando sidewalk missionary, John Barros. Pittman adds the caption,

While filming in Orlando, today John Barros got a surprise visit from Chase. Chase is 19 Days old and came to visit with his mom and dad to say thanks for being there, telling my mom the Gospel and saving my life.

This is the face of Gospel-driven abortion ministry. Won’t you become a part of it?

Open letter to President Obama (Part 232)

President Obama c/o The White House
1600 Pennsylvania Avenue NW
Washington, DC 20500

Dear Mr. President,

I know that you receive 20,000 letters a day and that you actually read 10 of them every day. I really do respect you for trying to get a pulse on what is going on out here.

I have been involved with the March for Life for almost 30 years here in Little Rock. My four kids and I  have walked in it on a regular basis in Little Rock and I have posted about it before on my blog www.thedailyhatch.org . When I first marched in it Ronald Reagan was the president and he wrote one of the best articles on the pro-life movement that I ever read. I have included below.

Nelly Gray passed away on August 13, 2012 and she started the March almost 40 years ago. I wanted to honor her today with this post. Please stand on the side of life!!!!!

Nellie Gray, who in 1974 helped start the annual antiabortion demonstration in Washington called March for Life that attracts thousands to the nation’s capital, has died. She was 88.

According to The Washington Post, “Gene Ruane, a colleague, said that he found Miss Gray dead Monday in her Capitol Hill home and that the chief medical examiner will determine the cause and date of her death.”

National Review’s The Corner blog writes that:

“The March for Life is Nellie Gray’s main legacy. Many pro-lifers sometimes seem to take the annual March for granted, but the longevity of the March is actually a remarkable achievement. Some 39 years ago, pro-life activists felt a need to properly commemorate the first anniversary of the tragic Roe v. Wade decision. That is when the idea for the March for Life was born. Interestingly, there was no plan to repeat the first March, but when deciding what to do with the leftover funds, someone suggested hosting a March the next year. Before long, the March for Life was incorporated with Nellie Gray as president and became an annual tradition.

“Since then, the March has been a key contribution to the pro-life cause.”

The Associated Press says “Gray was a lawyer and former federal employee who devoted herself full-time to the anti-abortion movement after the Supreme Court’s 1973 Roe v. Wade decision. … [She] was the primary organizer of the march throughout its 38-year history. She used the phrase ‘no exceptions, no compromise’ to sum up her belief that life begins at conception and abortion should be illegal. At this year’s march, she referred to abortion as genocide and the Roe v. Wade decision as ‘an evil imposed upon our country.’ ”

The next March for Life is scheduled for Jan. 25, 2013.

Nellie Gray: ‘No one … can legalize even a little bit of abortion’

June 10, 2004, 10:30 a.m.
Abortion and the Conscience of the Nation
Ronald Reagan’s pro-life tract.

EDITOR’S NOTE: While president, Ronald Reagan penned this article for The Human Life Review, unsolicited. It ran in the Review‘s Spring 1983, issue and is reprinted here with permission.

The 10th anniversary of the Supreme Court decision in Roe v. Wade. Our nationwide policy of abortion-on-demand through all nine months of pregnancy was neither voted for by our people nor enacted by our legislators — not a single state had such unrestricted abortion before the Supreme Court decreed it to be national policy in 1973 is a good time for us to pause and reflect. But the consequences of this judicial decision are now obvious: since 1973, more than 15 million unborn children have had their lives snuffed out by legalized abortions. That is over ten times the number of Americans lost in all our nation’s wars.

Make no mistake, abortion-on-demand is not a right granted by the Constitution. No serious scholar, including one disposed to agree with the Court’s result, has argued that the framers of the Constitution intended to create such a right. Shortly after the Roe v. Wade decision, Professor John Hart Ely, now Dean of Stanford Law School, wrote that the opinion “is not constitutional law and gives almost no sense of an obligation to try to be.” Nowhere do the plain words of the Constitution even hint at a “right” so sweeping as to permit abortion up to the time the child is ready to be born. Yet that is what the Court ruled.

As an act of “raw judicial power” (to use Justice White’s biting phrase), the decision by the seven-man majority inRoev. Wade has so far been made to stick. But the Court’s decision has by no means settled the debate. Instead,Roe v. Wadehas become a continuing prod to the conscience of the nation.

Abortion concerns not just the unborn child, it concerns every one of us. The English poet, John Donne, wrote: “. . . any man’s death diminishes me, because I am involved in mankind; and therefore never send to know for whom the bell tolls; it tolls for thee.”

We cannot diminish the value of one category of human life — the unborn — without diminishing the value of all human life. We saw tragic proof of this truism last year when the Indiana courts allowed the starvation death of “Baby Doe” in Bloomington because the child had Down’s Syndrome.

Many of our fellow citizens grieve over the loss of life that has followed Roe v. Wade. Margaret Heckler, soon after being nominated to head the largest department of our government, Health and Human Services, told an audience that she believed abortion to be the greatest moral crisis facing our country today. And the revered Mother Teresa, who works in the streets of Calcutta ministering to dying people in her world-famous mission of mercy, has said that “the greatest misery of our time is the generalized abortion of children.”

Over the first two years of my Administration I have closely followed and assisted efforts in Congress to reverse the tide of abortion — efforts of Congressmen, Senators and citizens responding to an urgent moral crisis. Regrettably, I have also seen the massive efforts of those who, under the banner of “freedom of choice,” have so far blocked every effort to reverse nationwide abortion-on-demand.

Despite the formidable obstacles before us, we must not lose heart. This is not the first time our country has been divided by a Supreme Court decision that denied the value of certain human lives. The Dred Scott decision of 1857 was not overturned in a day, or a year, or even a decade. At first, only a minority of Americans recognized and deplored the moral crisis brought about by denying the full humanity of our black brothers and sisters; but that minority persisted in their vision and finally prevailed. They did it by appealing to the hearts and minds of their countrymen, to the truth of human dignity under God. From their example, we know that respect for the sacred value of human life is too deeply engrained in the hearts of our people to remain forever suppressed. But the great majority of the American people have not yet made their voices heard, and we cannot expect them to — any more than the public voice arose against slavery — until the issue is clearly framed and presented.

What, then, is the real issue? I have often said that when we talk about abortion, we are talking about two lives — the life of the mother and the life of the unborn child. Why else do we call a pregnant woman a mother? I have also said that anyone who doesn’t feel sure whether we are talking about a second human life should clearly give life the benefit of the doubt. If you don’t know whether a body is alive or dead, you would never bury it. I think this consideration itself should be enough for all of us to insist on protecting the unborn.

________________________________________________

I remember when President Carter and candidate Reagan debated in 1980 and the subject of abortion came up. Reagan said that if you were on a dusty area and you found someone laying down would you bury him without knowing for sure if he is alive or not? It is the same with the case of abortion.

Thank you so much for your time. I know how valuable it is. I also appreciate the fine family that you have and your commitment as a father and a husband.

Sincerely,

Everette Hatcher III, 13900 Cottontail Lane, Alexander, AR 72002, ph 501-920-5733, lowcostsqueegees@yahoo.com

Jason Rapert vindicated!!!! Take that Max Brantley!!!

  1. Associated Press Photo of Jason Rapert  By Danny Johnston
  2. ______________________

ISN’T IT FUN TO WATCH THE LIBERAL PRESS START TO BACKTRACK FROM THEIR EARLIER ACCUSATIONS OF RACISM JUST LIKE THE DANA AMIRA IS NOW DOING. I have said in the past that Jason Rapert had been unfairly treated. I can understand national publications like the Huffington Post, NY Magazine, and other liberal blogs being mislead by this hack job on Jason Rapert done by The Nation, but it is truly amazing to me that Max Brantley of the Arkansas Times Blog who prides himself in always being completely honest would buy into this hack job on Jason Rapert. It is truly sad.  Furthermore on his blog Brantley asserted, “Rapert defenders contend he was talking about minority political interests, not minorities, references to the Obama birth certificate, Muslims and a Ramadan event notwithstanding.”

But the truth always does come out eventually. John Lyon of Stephens Media did have a balanced article that included an explantion from Jason Rapert and Jason Tolbert also gave both sides on his blog www.tolbertreport.com .

Now the truth has come out and it clear to see that the liberals in Arkansas has misrepresented the truth about the nature of Rapert’s comments.

Below KTHV’s website in Little Rock provided this statement that Arkansas State Senator Jason Rapert released today:

LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (KTHV) – Arkansas Sen. Jason Rapert, R – District 18, released the following statement Tuesday in response to SB134, which passed in the Senate last week.

“Last week, the Arkansas State Senate voted in favor of SB134, otherwise known as the “Heartbeat Bill”.

If passed into law, the Heartbeat Bill will ban abortion after the point when a heartbeat can be detected, which occurs around the 6th to 8th week of pregnancy and will become arguably the most influential piece of pro-life legislation ever introduced in the State of Arkansas and possibly the United States. The bill does recognize exceptions for rape, incest, to save the life of the mother or life threatening medical emergencies.

Because of the ground-breaking nature of the Heartbeat Bill, I have unfortunately fallen prey to the growing trend of destructive politics.

Pro-life opponents on the far Left dredged up a video of a speech that I delivered at a Tea Party rally in 2011, and edited my nearly 20-minute talk down to one and a half minutes. They highlighted the following words taken out of context and labeled me a racist-a description with which I would have never ever conceived being tagged.

‘I hear you loud and clear, Barack Obama. You don’t represent the country that I grew up with. And your values [are] not going to save us. We’re going to take this country back for the Lord. We’re going to try to take this country back for conservatism. And we’re not going to allow minorities to run roughshod over what you people believe in!’

Standing alone, these comments could very well appear to be racist. The term ‘minorities’ is most often used by Americans in reference to people of ethnic groups other than white. Upon viewing the entire context of my speech, which is broken up into five separate videos on YouTube, it is very evident that by ‘minorities’, I was referring to the minority of political interests that are not aligned with the views of the majority of the people of Arkansas.

Here are my comments in full context that preceded the aforementioned statement as I referred to President Obama’s liberal stances:

‘Here in Arkansas we tried to do something about our values on that. We said ‘You know what? Where we have foster children, we want them to be in a good home with a mommy and a daddy.’ Do ya’ll think that’s alright? Well, right here the other day a bunch of your Supreme Court Justices just struck it down – said your vote don’t count. I am here to tell you that we are a people that’s ruled by a majority in this country. And I am tired of minority interests that are running roughshod over you and me.’

Since the deceivingly edited video surfaced, I have been the subject of personal ridicule and the victim of threats against my family and me. National press and media outlets have cast false judgment on my character charging that I have no respect for women and a disdain for non-white American citizens, but more importantly than the false accusations hurled against me, the debate shifted focus from the lives of the unborn to political gamesmanship and nonsense.

Winston Churchill once said: “The truth is incontrovertible. Malice may attack it, ignorance may deride it, but in the end, there it is.”

Here’s a look at the facts.

The truth of the matter is that my comments at the 2011 rally had nothing to do with anyone’s ethnic background.

The truth of the matter is that the personal attacks on my character are not even really about me at all.

The truth of the matter is that the Heartbeat Bill very clearly provides exceptions in the cases of rape, incest, and to save the life of the mother and includes a provision stating that test would not have to be performed if there is a life-threatening medical emergency.

The truth of the matter is that the Heartbeat Bill passed in the Arkansas State Senate with a supermajority of 26 “yeas”, 8 “nays”, and 1 “absent” and included the votes of 5 Democrats and 3 Republican women.

The truth of the matter is that this unfortunate situation is about the rage of the liberal left because people are standing up for life in Arkansas, and for the first time, substantive legislation might actually be passed to do something about it.

The baseless charge of racism is an act of desperation. A man should be judged by the fruits he bears in his life-not a 90-second video, and the actions of my life clearly show that I am no racist. This includes several partnerships and friendships with pastors and non-profit leaders from various backgrounds both in Arkansas and all over the world. It includes my founding of Holy Ghost Ministries, Inc. (HGM), a faith-based

humanitarian organization providing clean water and assistance to the underprivileged and orphaned citizens of Ghana West Africa, Uganda and the Philippines-all of which are passions I’ve worked for longed before I became a State Senator.

The dissenters of the Heartbeat Bill have every right to disagree with the contents of it. They have every right to express their disagreement and to even fight against it. That is the beauty of the United States.

However, the problem arises when the dissenters lose all perspective of the actual issue and begin to hurl personal attacks at the supporters and initiators of the Heartbeat Bill. This is where they are wrong. This is where I speak on behalf of all Americans who favor civil discourse and call for the name-calling, threats, and vicious lies to cease.

If my political opponents want to debate me on the issues, I welcome it. If they want to engage in healthy and honest public discourse that is beneficial to Arkansan constituents, I am happy to oblige, but lies and distortions are the exact reason why American public opinion has turned so unfavorably against politics in general. They are tired of it, and so am I.

I believe that life begins at the moment of conception and that we, as leaders, have a moral obligation to protect the lives of children. I will continue to proudly support pro-life legislation in the Arkansas General Assembly and will be vocal in my defense of the unborn as the least among us. When there is a heartbeat, there is life.”

Open letter to President Obama (Part 231 B)

President Obama c/o The White House
1600 Pennsylvania Avenue NW
Washington, DC 20500

Dear Mr. President,

I know that you receive 20,000 letters a day and that you actually read 10 of them every day. I really do respect you for trying to get a pulse on what is going on out here. I know you are not pro-life but I wanted to share some pro-life material with you regardless.

Many evangelicals today are pro-life because of Francis Schaeffer. Maybe you should understand where we are coming from.

First published in 1981, Francis Schaeffer’s A Christian Manifestois increasingly relevant today in 2010. The book, penned as a Christian response to the Communist and Humanist Manifestos, describes how the United States is being systematically torn apart by secular humanism and its “material-energy, chance world view.” The second half of the book details what actions the Christian should take in defending one’s self and country. In explaining civil disobedience, Schaeffer uses Samuel Rutherford’smodel of “three appropriate levels of resistance.”“First, he must defend himself by protest (in contemporary society this would most often be by legal action); second, he must flee if at all possible; and, third, he may use force, if necessary, to defend himself (Schaeffer 103).”Schaeffer then goes on to provide an example that would be worthy of Rutherford’s first level of resistance.“In our day an illustration for the need of protest is tax money used for abortion. After all the normal constitutional means of protest had been exhausted, then what could be done? At some point protest could lead some Christians to refuse to pay some portion of their tax money. Of course, this would mean a trial. Such a move would have to be the individual’s choice under God. No one should decide for another. But somewhere along the way, such a decision might easily have to be faced. Happily, at the present time in the United States the Hyde Amendment has removed the use of national tax money for abortions, but that does not change the possibility that in some cases such a protest would be the only way to be heard (Schaeffer 108).”Fastforward 19 years. Today, the concern for pro-lifers is no longer the Hyde Amendment. The United States now has a tax-funded federal healthcare program that, according to a new Congressional Research Service report, allows federal tax dollars to fund elective abortions. What should be the Christian response? If the legal challenges fail and our government does indeed choose to use federal tax money to fund the killing of unborn babies, how will God’s people respond? It is interesting just how prophetic Francis Schaeffer’s thoughts and concerns were. This is the first of his writings I have read and I look forward to reading more of his work. The abortion fight is no different than any other war in the sense that individual battles will decide victory. But the battles involved have so much more at stake than I often realize. There is certainly a “war of world views” going on in this country and the preservation or destruction of the U.S. Constitution will surely determine if liberty is for all or none.Schaeffer, Francis A. The Church Awakens: Whatever Happened to the Human Race? (includes the video ABORTION OF THE HUMAN RACE)

In the film series “WHATEVER HAPPENED TO THE HUMAN RACE?” the arguments are presented  against abortion (Episode 1),  infanticide (Episode 2),   euthenasia (Episode 3), and then there is a discussion of the Christian versus Humanist worldview concerning the issue of “the basis for human dignity” in Episode 4 and then in the last episode a close look at the truth claims of the Bible

I truly believe that many of the problems we have today in the USA are due to the advancement of humanism in the last few decades in our society. Ronald Reagan appointed the evangelical Dr. C. Everett Koop to the position of Surgeon General in his administration. He partnered with Dr. Francis Schaeffer in making the video below. It is very valuable information for Christians to have.  Actually I have included a video below that includes comments from him on this subject.

Francis Schaeffer: “Whatever Happened to the Human Race” (Episode 1) ABORTION OF THE HUMAN RACE

Published on Oct 6, 2012 by

Francis Schaeffer

I am so grateful to Francis Schaeffer for awakening the evangelical community to this pro-life issue.

From the website www.personhoodeducation.org:

The Church Awakens: Whatever Happened to the Human Race?

Though the pall of death loomed over America’s unborn with the Roe decision, the Evangelical Church was not quick to wake from its slumber. While Roman Catholics were faster on point in the battle over the sanctity of human life, Protestants throughout the ’70s largely stayed on the sidelines.

Many longstanding leaders in the pro-life movement who are still active today credit Francis Schaeffer as a key prod who prompted Protestants to enter the fight. Dr. George Grant notes the significance of Schaeffer’s 1979 book and accompanying video, Whatever Happened to the Human Race?, which confronted the issues of abortion, euthanasia, and infanticide; as well as Schaeffer’s best-selling book,A Christian Manifesto, released in 1981, as works that spurred many Evangelicals to engage the arena in defense of life.

Dan Becker of Georgia Right to Life offers these comments:

Francis Schaeffer was the one who brought most of the evangelical church to the pro-life movement itself back in the early ’80s. It was totally absent from the culture completely, prior to anything having to do with the sanctity of life. It wasn’t on the radar of [most] churches [until Schaeffer brought it to their attention].

Jim Zes, a Reformed Baptist who has been fighting for the sanctity of life for many years in the St. Louis area, remembers a billboard Schaeffer took out in a major Florida city that said, in essence, “Abortions clinics are open with permission by the Church of Jesus Christ.”

Schaeffer’s salvo on the Church’s lethargy is a theme that has motivated Zes to remain engaged in this battle for the long haul.

Abortion supporters lying in order to further their cause? Article: “Window to the Womb” (includes video ABORTION OF THE HUMAN RACE)

It is truly sad to me that liberals will lie in order to attack good Christian people like state senator Jason Rapert of Conway, Arkansas because he headed a group of pro-life senators that got a pro-life bill through the Arkansas State Senate the last week of January in 2013. I have gone back and forth with the liberals at the Arkansas Times Blog over this issue of Jason Rapert’s comments.

I can understand national publications like the Huffington Post, NY Magazine, and other liberal blogs being mislead by this hack job on Jason Rapert done by The Nation, but it is truly amazing to me that Max Brantley of the Arkansas Times Blog who prides himself in always being completely honest would buy into this hack job on Jason Rapert, but my conclusion is very simple: MAX BRANTLEY WILL DO WHATEVER IT TAKES TO HELP THE PROCHOICE FORCES AND IF THAT MEANS MISLEAD HIS FLOCK TO BELIEVE THAT PRO-LIFE STATE SENATOR JASON RAPERT IS RACIST THEN HE WILL EVEN DO THAT.  In his weekly podcast on 2-1-13 at the 7 min mark Brantley said he listened to Rapert’s comment in context and contends  it was a racial comment. Brantley said that Tea Party speakers like to talk about the “negro black” President Obama, but Rapert no comment concerning the president’s race in his talk to the Tea Party in 2011 at the Capitol.  Furthermore on his blog Brantley asserted, “Rapert defenders contend he was talking about minority political interests, not minorities, references to the Obama birth certificate, Muslims and a Ramadan event notwithstanding.”

But the truth always does come out eventually. John Lyon of Stephens Media did have a balanced article that included an explantion from Jason Rapert and Jason Tolbert also gave both sides and it is obvious that Rapert was talking about minority political interests and not different people’s races!!!!

Did that cause pro-choice supporters like Michael Cook and Max Brantley to apologize? No way, but they led the flock to continue the party line!!!

Bernard Nathanson was a founder of NARAL and he often lied in order to allow himself to continue to run the largest abortion clinic in the nation. Here is a portion of an article by Robert George concerning his interaction with Dr. Nathanson about this:

There are many lessons in Bernard Nathanson’s life for those of us who recognize the worth and dignity of all human lives and who seek to win hearts and change laws. Two in particular stand out for me.

First is the luminous power of truth. As I have written elsewhere, and as Nathanson’s own testimony confirms, the edifice of abortion is built on a foundation of lies. Nathanson told those lies; indeed, he helped to invent them. But others witnessed to truth. And when he was exposed to their bold, un-intimidated, self-sacrificial witness, the truth overcame the darkness in Nathanson’s heart and convicted him in the court of his own conscience.

Bernie and I became friends in the early 1990s, shortly after my own pro-life writings came to his attention. Once during the question-and-answer session following a speech he gave at Princeton, I asked him: “When you were promoting abortion, you were willing to lie in what you regarded as a good cause. Now that you have been converted to the cause of life, would you be willing to lie to save babies? How do those who hear your speeches and read your books and articles know that you are not lying now?” It was, I confess, an impertinently phrased question, but also, I believe, an important one. He seemed a bit stunned by it, and after a moment said, very quietly, “No, I wouldn’t lie, even to save babies.” At the dinner he and I had with students afterward, he explained himself further: “You said that I was converted to the cause of life; and that’s true. But you must remember that I was converted to the cause of life only because I was converted to the cause of truth. That’s why I wouldn’t lie, even in a good cause.”

The second lesson is this: We in the pro-life movement have no enemies to destroy. Our weapons are chaste weapons of the spirit: truth and love. Our task is less to defeat our opponents than to win them to the cause of life. To be sure, we must oppose the culture and politics of death resolutely and with a determination to win. But there is no one–no one–whose heart is so hard that he or she cannot be won over. Let us not lose faith in the power of our weapons to transform even the most resolute abortion advocates. The most dedicated abortion supporters are potential allies in the cause of life. It is the loving, prayerful, self-sacrificing witness of Joan Bell Andrews and so many other dedicated pro-life activists that softens the hearts and changes the lives of people like Dr. Bernard Nathanson.

May he rest in peace.

Open letter to President Obama (Part 230 B)

A Ronald Reagan radio address from 1975 addresses the topics of abortion and adoption. This comes from a collection of audio commentaries titled “Reagan in His Own Voice.”

Francis Schaeffer said in the book CHRISTIAN MANIFESTO:

Certainly every Christian ought to be praying and working to nullify the abominable abortion law. But as we work and pray, we should have in mind not only this important issue as though it stood alone. Rather, we should be struggling and praying that this whole other total entity “(this godless) worldview” can be rolled back with all its results across all of life.

I just wanted to share with you one of the finest prolife papers I have ever read, and it is by President Ronald Wilson Reagan.

I have a son named Wilson Daniel Hatcher and he is named after two of the most respected men I have ever read about : Daniel from the Old Testament and Ronald Wilson Reagan. I have studied that book of Daniel for years and have come to respect that author who was a saint who worked in two pagan governments but he never compromised. My favorite record was the album “No Compromise” by Keith Green and on the cover was a picture from the Book of Daniel.

One of the thrills of my life was getting to hear President Reagan speak in the beginning of November of 1984 at the State House Convention Center in Little Rock.  Immediately after that program I was standing outside on Markham with my girlfriend Jill Sawyer (now wife of 25 years) and we were alone on a corner and President was driven by and he waved at us and we waved back.

My former pastor from Memphis, Adrian Rogers, got the opportunity to visit with President Ronald Reagan on several occasions.

Take time to read this below and comment below and let me know what you thought of his words.

Sad that political left will edit video tape in order to falsely accuse Jason Rapert of racism!!!!!

I am never surprised at what liberals will say. Being on the Arkansas Times Blog and debating gun control, and abortion over and over and over and over again like I have in the past has made me aware of what liberals will do to take one for the team even if deep down they know it is a hack job.

Brantley lives here in Arkansas and he should be able to get to the bottom of this.  It clearly comes down to being on the liberal team that opposes pro-life laws and he will take up for those who are involved in the hack job if they are prochoice. In his weekly podcast at the 7 min mark Brantley said he listened to Rapert’s comment in context and contends  it was a racial comment. Furthermore on his blog Brantley asserted, “Rapert defenders contend he was talking about minority political interests, not minorities, references to the Obama birth certificate, Muslims and a Ramadan event notwithstanding.”

But the truth always does come out eventually. John Lyon of Stephens Media did have a balanced article that included an explantion from Jason Rapert and Jason Tolbert also gave both sides.

JasonTolbert on his blog www.tolbertreport.com reported:

The comments receiving focus have to do with a portion of Rapert’s speech where he discussed “minorities.” Here, context is key.

Here is the quote The Nation posted in an edited video (emphasis mine)…

“I hear you loud and clear, Barack Obama. You don’t represent the country that I grew up with. And your values is not going to save us. We’re going to take this country back for the Lord. We’re going to try to take this country back for conservatism. And we’re not going to allow minorities to run roughshod over what you people believe in!”

____________

Tolbert continues:

So what did he mean by minorities?  A separate portion of the video (see below) sheds light on this (again emphasis mine).  Before the above remark, Rapert addressed the case in which the Arkansas Supreme Court overturned the ban of gay foster parents saying…

“Here in Arkansas we tried to do something about our values on that. We said ‘You know what. Where we have foster children, we want them to be in a good home with a mommy and a daddy.’ Do ya’ll think that’s alright? Well, right here the other day a bunch of your Supreme Court Justices just struck it down – said your vote don’t count. I am here to tell you that we are a people who is ruled by a majority in this country. And I am tired of minority interests that are running roughshod over you and me.”

______________

Tolbert went on to say:

It is clear with that context from earlier in the same speech that Rapert was talking about courts overturning the votes of the majority of voters in favor of the minority of voters and not talking about an ethic group.

“The majority of people in Arkansas oppose the policies of President Obama, including his health care law,” Rapert explained further to me Friday evening. “Those Arkansans that support the President’s policies are in the minority, and in 2011 it was those minority political viewpoints that our leaders were using to govern hardworking Arkansas taxpayers who hold common sense conservative ideals. I resent any false accusation or false allegation that personally attacks me or my family, or attacks my character in order to advance a political agenda. We saw too many of these types of personal attacks from Democrats in 2012 and voters rejected those attacks by electing conservative majorities to the Arkansas legislature.”

The explanation fits in line with the full unedited version of the video.  It is also worth noting that Rapert just won a heated re-election campaign with a ton of money spent on opposition research.  The fact that his opponent did not ever mention this video, which has been posted for almost two years now, and never charged Rapert with all sorts of racism speaks volumes.

“The point of the article was to attack the legislation. It is another example of liberals trying to kill pro-life legislation, and we’ve seen that before here in Arkansas,” said Rapert. “The baseless charge of racism is desperation. A man should be judged by the fruits he bears in his life and my life and works show clearly I am no racist. This attack is about the Heartbeat Bill and the fact that it is very close to passing in our state.”

__________

Another hack job supported by liberals like Max Brantley. Brantley of the Arkansas Times Blog said in his weekly podcast, “I had to laugh because his (Rapert’s) defenders said instantly, ‘Jason Rapert is talking about political minorites, not the black Negro president, but you have to listen to the whole tape..”

RAPERT WAS TALKING ABOUT MINORITY POLITICAL INTERESTS AND NEVER ONCE MENTIONED THE RACE OF OUR PRESIDENT BUT HIS POLICIES.

Many liberals actually truly do argue for abortion rights over human rights. Prochoice advocate Elizabeth Williams came out and said that on 1-23-13 in her article on Salon. We hear reasons for abortion such as poverty, and  child abuse,  but why not consider adoption? Instead, the political left will stop at nothing to push the pro-abortion agenda. Why not stop and take an honest look at when life begins for the unborn child and when she begins to feel pain?

“Sanctity of Life Saturday” Francis Schaeffer and Dr. C. Everett Koop asked Reagan to issue pro-life proclamation in 1983 (includes video ABORTION OF THE HUMAN RACE)

Did you know that Francis Schaeffer and Dr. C. Everett Koop asked President Reagan in 1983 to make a pro-life proclamation?

Every Life is Precious

Thus says the LORD, “A voice is heard in Ramah, Lamentation and bitter weeping. Rachel is weeping for her children; She refuses to be comforted for her children, Because they are no more.”

Jeremiah 31:14-16

Sanctity of Human Life Sunday is held on the Sunday in January that falls closest to the day on which the Roe v. Wade and Doe v. Bolton decisions were handed down by the U.S. Supreme Court on January 22, 1973.

Sanctity of Life Sunday began in 1983 when the Christian Action Council (now known as Care Net), founded with the help of Francis Schaeffer and former Surgeon General C. Everett Koop, “asked President Ronald Reagan to create a special day to focus on the intrinsic value of human life.” [Source]

President Reagan issued this proclamation:

Since 1973, however, more than 15 million unborn children have died in legalized abortions — a tragedy of stunning dimensions that stands in sad contrast to our belief that each life is sacred. These children, over tenfold the number of Americans lost in all our Nation’s wars, will never laugh, never sing, never experience the joy of human love; nor will they strive to heal the sick, or feed the poor, or make peace among nations. Abortion has denied them the first and most basic of human rights, and we are infinitely poorer for their loss.

We are poorer not simply for lives not led and for contributions not made, but also for the erosion of our sense of the worth and dignity of every individual. To diminish the value of one category of human life is to diminish us all. Slavery, which treated Blacks as something less than human, to be bought and sold if convenient, cheapened human life and mocked our dedication to the freedom and equality of all men and women. Can we say that abortion — which treats the unborn as something less than human, to be destroyed if convenient — will be less corrosive to the values we hold dear?

It has now been 40 years since the Supreme Court Roe v. Wade decision that made abortion on demand legal in all 50 states. Since that time, the 15 million babies referred to by President Reagan has become 55 million babies.

Abortion is the greatest evil in American history and dwarfs the genocide of many other nations throughout history.

And served their idols,
Which became a snare to them.
They even sacrificed their sons and their daughters to the demons,
And shed innocent blood,
The blood of their sons and their daughters,
Whom they sacrificed to the idols of Canaan;
And the land was polluted with the blood.
Psalm 106:36–38
