The USA came in 2nd for the 2022 World Cup, and hopefully we now have a chance to re-bid for it. We have more stadiums than anyone and would create more excitement than any other country.

U.S. Soccer first said in February 2007 that it would put forth a bid for the 2018 World Cup.[78] On 28 January 2009, U.S. Soccer then announced that it would submit bids for both the 2018 and 2022 Cups.[79] David Downs, president of Univision Sports, was executive director of the bid. Other committee members included president of U.S. Soccer Sunil Gulati, U.S. Soccer chief executive officer Dan Flynn, Major League Soccer Commissioner Don Garber, and Phil Murphy, the former national finance chairman for the Democratic National Committee.[80] The vice president of FIFA, Jack Warner, who is also the president of CONCACAF, originally said he would try to bring the World Cup back to the CONCACAF region.[81]However, Warner also stated that he preferred the USSF change their plans to make a bid for the 2022 FIFA World Cup.[82]

In April 2009, the bid committee identified 70 stadia in 50 communities as possible venues for the tournament, with 58 confirming their interest.[83][84] The list of stadia was trimmed two months later to 45 in 37 cites,[85] and then in August 2009 to 32 stadia in 27 cites.[86] In January 2010, 18 cities and 21 stadia were selected for the final bid. The cities were Atlanta,Baltimore, Boston, Dallas, Denver, Houston, Indianapolis, Kansas City, Los Angeles, Miami, Nashville, New York, Philadelphia, Phoenix, San Diego, Seattle, Tampa, and Washington DC. The cities with multiple qualifying stadiums were Los Angeles, Seattle, Dallas and Washington, D.C. With several large American football stadia, the 21 venues was to have an average capacity of 77,000 and none seat fewer than 65,000. Seven of the stadia seat at least 80,000.[87] Two proposed stadia would be used by Major League Soccer during the summer.[citation needed]

In October 2010 the United States withdrew from the 2018 bid process, to focus solely on the 2022 competition.[88

This is a possibility because of the recent events mentioned below. Reuters reported today:

ZURICH (Reuters) – Accusations that Qatar bought the right to stage the 2022 World Cup deepened the corruption crisis at the heart of FIFA on Monday just as an apparently unscathed Sepp Blatter prepared to claim another term as president.

World soccer’s governing body has been beset by accusations of bribery involving members of its inner circle of executive committee members ever since the vote to decide the hosts of the 2018 and 2022 World Cups took place in Zurich last December.

On Monday, the allegation that Qatar paid members for their votes sprang from the top, as a leaked email from the organization’s general secretary Jerome Valcke making the claim was confirmed as genuine.

It came just two days before FIFA delegates are due to vote in the presidential election, with the 75-year-old Swiss Blatter now the only candidate and poised to extend his 13-year spell at the head of the world’s richest and most popular sport.

The email, shown to Reuters by FIFA vice-president Jack Warner, referred to Qatar’s Mohamed bin Hammam, who was at that time a candidate to stand against Blatter in the presidential election.

“For MBH, I never understood why he was running,” Warner quoted the email from Valcke as saying. “If really he thought he had a chance or just being an extreme way to express how much he does not like anymore JSB (Blatter).

“Or he thought you can buy FIFA as they bought the WC (World Cup).”

Qatar denied the allegation while Bin Hammam said he had no idea why Valcke had made such a claim, which followed a steady drip of accusations about senior FIFA executives.

In total, 10 of the 24 members of the executive committee have been subject to allegations of corruption in the last year and yet Blatter appears to have been untouched by the controversy and calls for reform.

Blatter was cleared by a FIFA ethics committee on Sunday, while Bin Hammam, who had earlier pulled out of the election campaign, and Warner were provisionally suspended.

Blatter will now run unopposed in Wednesday’s vote and can expect to win a fourth term at the head of an organization he has run since 1998, during which time it has become wealthy on the back of TV rights and sponsorship.

Blatter, who will address a news conference at 1600 GMT, has recently sought to distance himself from his executive committee, whose members are elected by their respective confederations rather than from within FIFA itself.

“I have no influence and I cannot take any responsibility,” he said during the election campaign. “They have their own character and own conscience.”

FORMER CHALLENGES

Blatter has faced down challenges to his position before, notably in 2002 when secretary general Michel Zen-Ruffinen claimed his 1998 election victory was based on bribery and corruption.

Blatter subsequently won re-election and Zen-Ruffinen was soon out of a job.

Five years later, he was elected unopposed for a third term. While the last six months have been the most turbulent of his reign, he is on course to get the fourth term he said during the campaign would be his last.

The recent problems stem from last year’s World Cup votes, when Russia saw off opposition from England and joint-bids from Netherlands-Belgium and Spain-Portugal for 2018 and Qatar got the 2022 nod over Australia, Japan, South Korea and the United States.

On Monday, an Australian senator demanded a refund from FIFA on the $48.8 million the country spent on its bid for the 2022 World Cup.

The fear now for Qatar would be any sustained calls for the vote to be re-run.

Bin Hammam, who will not be allowed to attend the FIFA congress because of his suspension, dismissed the allegation that he had handed over money in exchange for votes.

“You would have to ask Jerome Valcke what he was thinking,” he told the BBC. “If I was paying money from Qatar you would also have to ask the 13 people who voted for Qatar.”

Valcke told reporters in Zurich on Monday he did send the email but that Warner had only published selected parts of it.

Earlier this month, Qatar’s World Cup bid team strongly denied allegations, made by a British member of parliament, that it had paid two executive committee members to vote for the Gulf nation.

Questioned by reporters on Sunday, Valcke agreed that FIFA was facing “a watershed moment,” drawing comparisons with the International Olympic Committee’s crisis when IOC delegates were found guilty of taking bribes for votes to award the 2002 Winter Games to Salt Lake City.

ZURICH (Reuters) – Accusations that Qatar bought the right to stage the 2022 World Cup deepened the corruption crisis at the heart of FIFA on Monday just as an apparently unscathed Sepp Blatter prepared to claim another term as president.

Jim Tressel no longer Ohio State football Coach

The Associated Press reported:

Jim Tressel resigns as Ohio State’s football coach

COLUMBUS, Ohio – Jim Tressel, who guided Ohio State to its first national title in 34 years, resigned Monday amid NCAA violations from a tattoo-parlor scandal that sullied the image of one of the country’s top football programs.

“After meeting with university officials, we agreed that it is in the best interest of Ohio State that I resign as head football coach,” Tressel said in a statement released by the university. “The appreciation that (wife) Ellen and I have for the Buckeye Nation is immeasurable.”

Luke Fickell will be the coach for the 2011 season. He already had been selected to be the interim head coach while Tressel served a five-game suspension.

Ohio State spokesman Jim Lynch said he was unaware of any buyout or severance package. He added that Tressel had returned from vacation Sunday night and met with athletic director Gene Smith, who then met with staff. Tressel typed his resignation and submitted it to Smith, he said.

The resignation was first reported by The Columbus Dispatch.

Clearly, the turmoil had been building. The resignation comes nearly three months after Ohio State called a news conference to announce it has suspended Tressel for two games — later increasing the ban to five games to coincide with the players’ punishment — and fined him $250,000 for knowing his players had received improper benefits from a local tattoo-parlor owner. The school said at the time it was “very surprised and disappointed” in Tressel. Yet, the school still managed to crack jokes.

Asked if he considered firing Tressel, Ohio State President E. Gordon Gee said then: “No, are you kidding? Let me just be very clear: I’m just hopeful the coach doesn’t dismiss me.”

Tressel’s downfall came with public and media pressure mounting on Ohio State, its board of trustees, Gee and Smith.

“We look forward to refocusing the football program on doing what we do best — representing this extraordinary university and its values on the field, in the classroom, and in life,” Smith said in a statement Monday. “We look forward to supporting Luke Fickell in his role as our football coach. We have full confidence in his ability to lead our football program.”

Tressel and Ohio State were to go before the NCAA’s infractions committee Aug. 12 to answer questions about the player violations and why Tressel did not report them. He denied knowledge of improper benefits to players until confronted by investigators with emails that showed he had known since April 2010.

After several NCAA violations by him or his players over the years, Tressel’s problems deepened after learning several players received cash or discounted tattoos. Contrary to NCAA bylaws — and his own contract — Tressel received emails from a former player about this and did not tell his athletic director, university president, compliance or legal departments or the NCAA for more than nine months.

The 58-year-old Tressel had a record of 106-22-0 at Ohio State. He led the Buckeyes to eight Bowl Championship Series games in his 10 years. Combined with a 135-57-2 record in 15 years at Youngstown State, where he won four Division I-AA national championships, Tressel’s career mark was 241-79-2.

The author of two books about faith and integrity, he remains a scapegoat to many and a hypocrite to others. Even though he has many backers, a rising chorus of detractors had stepped forward during the ongoing NCAA investigation. There were also questions about his players and their friends and family members receiving special deals on used cars from two Columbus dealers.

But at one time his image was that of an honest, religious man who never said or did anything without thinking it through first. His nickname was “The Senator” for never having a hair out of place, praising opponents and seldom giving a clear answer to even the simplest of questions.

He’d gotten into trouble with the NCAA even before coming to Ohio State. He was the coach at Youngstown State when it received scholarship and recruiting restrictions for violations involving star quarterback Ray Isaacs.

Still, Andy Geiger, then Ohio State’s athletic director, favored Tressel over Minnesota coach and former Buckeyes linebacker Glen Mason for the job after John Cooper was fired in January 2001.

Cooper was let go ostensibly because the program lost direction, with several off-the-field problems. But perhaps more damaging was his 2-10-1 record against rival Michigan and 3-8 mark in bowl games.

Introduced at an Ohio State basketball game in 2001, Tressel vowed that fans would “be proud of our young people, in the classroom, in the community, and most especially in 310 days in Ann Arbor, Mich., on the football field.”

Tressel’s first team went just 7-5, losing the Outback Bowl, but upset 11th-ranked Michigan 26-20. But in his second year, with a team led by freshman tailback Maurice Clarett, the Buckeyes won everything. They went 14-0, winning seven games by seven or fewer points. Ranked No. 2, they took on top-ranked Miami in the Fiesta Bowl for the BCS national title. In the second overtime, Clarett bulled over the middle for a touchdown and the Buckeyes held to clinch their first national title since 1968. After the game, Tressel held aloft the crystal football.

The following summer, Clarett reported that a used car he had borrowed from a local dealer was broken into and that he had been hit by thousands of dollars in losses. Clarett’s call to police came from Tressel’s office. Clarett admitted he had made up the break-in call and later took a plea deal. But the NCAA began looking into Clarett and the team. Soon after, he was declared ineligible. He would never play another college game.

The Buckeyes went 11-2 in 2003 and followed that with an 8-4 mark in Tressel’s fourth season. There had been a stream of players getting in trouble, but in December 2004 backup quarterback Troy Smith was suspended for the bowl game and the 2005 regular-season opener for accepting $500 from a booster.

Smith would go on to win the 2006 Heisman Trophy, leading the Buckeyes to a 12-0 record and a season-long No. 1 ranking. Despite being a heavy favorite in the national title game, the Buckeyes were routed by Florida 41-14.

A year later, Tressel guided the Buckeyes to the national championship game but lost again — 38-24 to underdog LSU.

The Buckeyes were national contenders each of Tressel’s next three seasons, with off-the-field problems mixed in. In 2005 offensive coordinator coach Jim Bollman was reprimanded for trying to arrange for a car and a loan for a recruit. Several other Buckeyes players were arrested on a variety of charges.

But the Buckeyes continued to win and play in rich bowl games. That was enough until his latest brush with the NCAA.

Ohio State announced in December during what would be a 12-1 season and a top-five national ranking that it would suggest to the NCAA that five players — most of them top players, including star quarterback Terrelle Pryor — would sit out the first five games of the 2011 season after they admitted they had received improper benefits.

They had sold memorabilia such as championship rings, uniforms and in the case of Pryor, a Fiesta Bowl sportsmanship award, for cash or discounted tattoos at a Columbus parlor. The violations came to light in a U.S. Attorney investigation into drug trafficking involving the owner of the parlor, Edward Rife. When federal agents raided his home and the parlor, they came across hundreds of signed Ohio State items.

A 10-day investigation by Ohio State resulted in the self-imposed five-game penalties and the players repaying the money they gained to charity. The NCAA allowed the players to play in the Sugar Bowl, a move many observers said showed the national governing body put the money interests of the bowl ahead of routine punishment in other similar cases.

Tressel had learned that Pryor and wide receiver DeVier Posey were involved in the memorabilia deals when he received an email from lawyer Christopher Cicero, a former Ohio State walk-on and letterman in the 1980s, back in April 2010.

It was not until Ohio State began to work on an appeal of the five-game suspensions for the players that investigators came across the emails between Cicero and Tressel. The coach then finally admitted that he knew of what has been called Tattoo-Gate by local media.

At a March 8 news conference, Tressel said he chose not to tell anyone because he was bound by confidentiality to not expose the federal drug trafficking investigation. Yet he had forwarded the very first email he received from Cicero to Ted Sarniak, a businessman and “mentor” of Pryor. Sarniak knew about the NCAA violations — and of Tressel’s coverup — for almost nine months before Smith and Gee found out.

“As I think back to what I could have done differently … I’ve learned that I probably needed to go to the top legal counsel person at the university and get some help,” Tressel said.

He said he hadn’t given a thought to what the rest of the country thought of Ohio State’s program and that he was not beating himself up over the violation.

“I don’t think less of myself at this moment,” he said. “I felt at the time as if I was doing the right thing for the safety of young people.”

My sons Hunter and Wilson had a lively discussion about Coach Tressel before the Sugar Bowl game between Arkansas and Ohio State. Wilson was angry about Ohio State allowing the five punished players to play against the hogs. Wilson thought Ohio State would win because of that and Hunter thought the hogs would win anyway.

After the game, Hunter commented that our mistakes in the first half cost the hogs the game and not the 5 players from Ohio State. Hunter went on to say,”He was a very intelligent coach but he made mistakes, and  he did the right thing and resigned.”

Wilson noted, “Though Tressel was a very talented coach, some mistakes from his bad decisions played throughout his career. I have been very angry toward him, but I got to give it to him for resigning.”

Candidate #9 Mitt Romney, Republican Presidential Hopefuls (Part three, 7 Questions Christians Must Ask Before Voting For A Mormon Part B)

Huckabee Apologizes To Mitt Romney For Mormon Question

At Des Moines University, 12/12/2007

__________________________________________

The following is written by Rev Sherwood Haisty Jr. of Santa Monica, California. Sherwood has pastored churches in Arkansas, Mississippi, Tennessee and California and currently he is the process of finishing up his Masters degree at the Masters Seminary.  I personally do differ with Sherwood on some of his points concerning Mitt Romney, but I agree with some too. Judge for yourself what you think. This was written during the Presidential Primary in 2008 and Sherwood posted this on http://pastors4huckabeeblog.com

7 Questions Christians Must Ask Before Voting For A Mormon

In the current field of candidates, is Mitt Romney the best person qualified to be President, of the United States?

However others may disagree with me and trust Romney and look to his money and say he is our man and is our best candidate.  I think Christians can size those things up in different ways.  I am thankful that many, many, Evangelicals are waking up to the idea that Huckabee can win and the poll numbers have shown a mega-shift to Huckabee in recent weeks.

I believe Mitt is not the best candidate and he is no more electable than Huckabee anymore.

However, I do not think the above questions are the only questions for me as an Evangelical that I should be asking.  If I am asking myself, would Romney be an okay President?, then I might support him but there are real concerns and some risk.  You know, the flip, flop, flip, again stuff really does concern me.

But there are several other questions that I think Evangelicals should ask before supporting Romney for President or any other Mormon for that high office.

They are these…

#4  Would the election of Mitt Romney as President be likely used by Mormons in America and worldwide as a point of reference to ascert that Mormonism is a respectable Christian denomination and would Mormon missionaries use a Romney Presidency to advance their own evangelistic attempts at redifining Mormonism and representing their religion in a good light?

Answer yes!  Absolutely, my experience with Mormon missionaries leads me expect them to seek to continue the rouge that Mormonism is really Christian.  They would most definitely point to Mitt Romney -especially if he were a popular President with a good family life- and  would use Romney as a lifestyle witness for their faith.  They could say, “You can have what the President has, here is a book  of Mormon, etc.”

#5  Do I believe that the growth of Mormonism worldwide is harmful?

Answer yes!  Very, it leads people into spiritual darkness with a counterfeit gospel.

#6  Do I value the souls of men and women boys and girls worldwide over my political concerns?

Answer yes!  I love my country very much and am a pashionate conservative, but my countries welfare is only temporal matter.  People being deceived and going to Hell is an eternal matter.  I believe we should put eternal matters over temporal ones.  I cannot in good conscience do anything that I believe would advance a false gospel that would lead others to hell.  Therefore I cannot under any conditions vote for a Mormon for President because I believe it would have that undesirable effect.

Maria Shriver Asks – How Do You Handle Transitions in Your Life?

Arnold Schwarzenegger admitted to his wife several months ago that he had fathered a child about 10 years ago with a member of their household staff. Maria moved out, but has not filed for divorce. In the you tube clip above she comments:

“Like a lot of you I’m in transition: people come up to me all the time, asking, what are you doing next?” she said, adding: “It’s so stressful to not know what you are doing next when people ask what you are doing and they can’t believe you don’t know what you are doing.”

“I’d like to hear from other people who are in transition,” she said. “How did you find your transition: Personal, professional, emotional, spiritual, financial? How did you get through it?”

Mrs. Shriver has asked for spiritual input and I personally think that unless she gets the spiritual help that she needs then she will end up in the divorce court. I am starting a series on how a marriage can survive an infidelity. My first suggestion would be to attend a “Weekend to Remember” put on by the organization “Family Life” out of Little Rock, Arkansas. I actually posted this as a response to Mrs. Shriver’s request on you tube.

I got a lot out of this article and I wanted to share it with you and here is the last portion below:

Her Husband Wouldn’t Speak to Her—for Three Years

“I can’t believe we’re having so much fun in our 60s”

The following years were sweet for the Sims. “We thoroughly enjoyed our time together,” June says. “We talked and talked.” They took rides together in a golf cart on their 160 acres and walked hand-in-hand through the woods. June describes Lamar as being more patient, more understanding, more affectionate—different in every way. At one point Lamar said, “I can’t believe we’re having so much fun in our 60s.”

In later years, the Sims...

In their later years, the Sims enjoyed riding their
golf cart around their 160 acres.

“He was always telling me, ‘I love you,’” June says, “and every night he’d go to bed and say, ‘I really appreciate all you do.’”

On June 21, 2004, Lamar and June repeated their marriage vows in a pastor’s home—just as they had done 41 years earlier. “I was about in tears,” June says, “and so was he because it was so precious that we were doing it again.” As Lamar and June drove back to their home from the pastor’s house, they talked about the good times in their marriage.

In July 2006 Lamar became short-winded when he walked from his parked truck into the house. With June’s prompting, he saw a doctor who sent him to an oncologist, who found cancer in the spleen.

“The doctor said his spleen had to go,” June says. “It was six times larger than it was supposed to be.” Lamar’s spleen was removed a few weeks later, but other complications set in and, as June says, “It was all downhill.”  Lamar died from pneumonia just five months after visiting the oncologist.

“I wondered why God gave you to me”

Realizing that time was short for Lamar, daughter Carol had a heart-to-heart conversation with him. “I know that you know that everybody is a sinner,” she said, “and we need Jesus and He’s the only way to heaven.” She asked Lamar to ask Jesus into his life if he had any doubts. Unable to speak, Lamar nodded.

Although not sure when Lamar actually accepted Christ, June has peace about his salvation. During the last year of his life he told June that he had been watching her sleep. “I wondered why God gave you to me,” he said. The next morning he repeated, “I just wonder why God gave you to me.”

“I’ve asked God that same question,” June says. “I think it was so he could get saved.”

During Lamar’s final hours, June and their four grown children sat with Lamar in the hospital and sang songs, beginning with “Amazing Grace” and continuing through every hymn they could recall from memory.   They read Scripture to him and reminisced over the good times they had enjoyed over the years.

June remembers leaning across Lamar and whispering into his ear that she loved him and appreciated all that he had done for her. He nodded.

Lamar took his last breath at 4:30 a.m. on Monday, January 22, 2007, just five months after he first visited the oncologist.

“We don’t want to miss out on what God has to teach us, even during the hard times”

June is grateful that she did not divorce Lamar … and so are her children and grandchildren.

The Sims set an example...

The Sims set an example of commitment and
faithfulness in marriage for their family.

At one time, daughter Wanda and her husband separated. “I wanted out,” Wanda says. Then she remembered how June would tell her to put her feelings aside and seek what God wanted her to do.

“Because my Mama could go through what she did with Daddy,” she says, “[I knew] the Lord would also give me the strength to be able to make it through with my husband.” Wanda has a strong marriage today and attributes that to her mother’s example.

June and Lamar’s youngest daughter, Shirley, says that her mother’s faithfulness also changed her life. “The Lord used it to bring me to a personal relationship with Him,” she says, “to start dealing with my anger and bitterness, to bond my husband and me together … and basically turn my life 180 degrees.” Shirley says her mom’s example has caused her to look at her own marriage as a life-long covenant.

June’s children have seen what God did in their parents’ lives and they are striving to be what God wants them to be. They’ve all said, “We don’t want to miss out on what God has to teach us, even during the hard times.”

Throughout the last seven years of Lamar and June’s marriage, their children expressed over and over how glad they were that their parents were still together. After Lamar died, they all sent June a note that said, “Thank you for hanging in there and showing what real love is.”

“He was the spice of my life”

Today June cherishes a letter that Lamar gave her shortly before he died. He wrote, “I would like to thank you for all the good and wonderful years. Words can’t tell you how I really feel.  Our love just grows and grows.”

In December 2007 June mailed a Christmas letter to her friends and family that expressed what God had done in her life and marriage. “Especially during those last seven years, Lamar and I shared such a deep, passionate love relationship,” she wrote. “He was my soul mate, my lover, my best friend. He was the spice of life. He kept me laughing.

“The days and months immediately following Lamar’s death were especially tough. The silence was deafening. I missed (and still do) hearing him say each morning, ‘I love you, Darling,’ or each night, ‘Thank you for all you do,’ or ‘The best thing I ever did was to marry you.’”

_____________

I really do wish Kate and William success in their marriage. I hope they truly are committed to each other, and if they are then the result will be a marriage that lasts their whole lifetime. Nevertheless, I do not think it is best to live together before marriage like they did, and I writing this series to help couples see how best to prepare for marriage.

Twice in the Song of Solomon, we are warned not to “Arouse or awaken love before its time.” Solomon does it right by waiting in order to give himself fully to his bride. My challenge to you is to avoid any contact that would arouse or lead to arousal before it’s time. I promise you, it will be worth the wait! (Dr Gary Smalley)

• In some of the bad marriages that I have seen, I ask the question, “Did you fall into premarital sex?” Usually, the answer is yes, and I tell them, “Your relationship probably wouldn’t have endured to the altar if you hadn’t had premarital sex. You just kept spraying lighter fluid on this thing.” But the real coals and embers weren’t there. (Pastor Tommy Nelson)

When we date seriously, or are engaged, we are trying to build a relationship suited to lifelong commitment to each other. We have to expend a great deal of effort learning to communicate deeply with each other, build healthy spiritual habits, and serve others as a team. Lack of sexual self-control will inhibit development in all of these areas. This is one of the worst consequences of immoral sex: At the very time we most need personal and spiritual development, our loss of self-control blocks our progress. (Dennis McCallum and Gary DeLashmutt, The Myth of Romance)

To resolve conflict effectively and Biblically there are two absolutes that both parties must agree on – do you know what they are? Without this framework, you can try all kinds of things to avoid or resolve conflict in your marriage and relationships, but you probably won’t be successful. Weekend to Remember Story – Dennis Rainey

Candidate #10,Former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin: Republican Presidential Hopefuls (Part B, Palin talks about her faith)

News on The 700 Club: November 19, 2009 – CBN.com

As seen on Thursday’s “The 700 Club,” the top stories from CBN News include an exclusive interview Sarah Palin, Senate’s HC Bill More Than $849 Billion?, and more… The Christian Broadcasting Network CBN

Below is the first part of the article.

Sarah Palin Goes ‘Rogue’ with CBN News

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. – Sarah Palin’s new book, Going Rogue, is officially in stores and people are lining up to get it.

The book tour began in Grand Rapids, Mich., where CBN News sat down with the former vice presidential candidate for a conversation on one of the book’s main topics — faith.

The chanting started 24 hours before Palin even arrived in Grand Rapids. Within hours, the line ballooned to more than 1,000.

Before the big book signing, Palin spoke with CBN News at Zondervan Publishing, the Christian press company promoting her book.

Click play for an inside look at the excitement amid Palin’s book signing in Grand Rapids, Mich., with CBN News White House Correspondent David Brody.  Part 2 of Brody’s exclusive interview with Palin will air Friday on The 700 Club.  Check local listings or check back with CBNNews.com Friday morning.

So far, the media has focused on the juicy campaign tidbits contained in Going Rogue, but inside you can’t go more than a few pages without reading about God’s influence in her life, whether it be Palin’s miscarriage, Down syndrome son or praying with her daughter Piper before the vice presidential debate.

“How in the world would I sum up my life except to say ‘God, at the end of the day, I have really nothing but my faith, my reliance on you Lord’ and I wanted to articulate that,” Palin said.

A Call to Readers

She wrote about giving her life to the Lord as a little 6-year-old at Bible camp in Alaska.

“Knowing even back then that it is a step that one can take to show the rest of the world that I’m not shy about this,” Palin recalled. “I am going to let the world know that this is my foundation and that this, my reliance is going to be on my faith in God.”

That firm proclamation is found throughout Going Rogue, which actually ends with Palin asking readers to invite God into their lives.

“My very last paragraph there sums it up and invites people, encourages people to do what I did and that’s put their life in God’s hands, our Creator who knows probably better than we know what the perfect path is for a person,” she explained.

“I wasn’t going to be hesitant at all to let people know what I believe,” Palin added.

It’s that tell it like it is talk that has her fans going ga-ga.

“Going Rogue with Sarah” is the theme of the bus tour. Palin’s tour bus is adorned with the slogan and a moose.

Many Still Not Convinced

While she can do no wrong with her supporters, polls show Palin has work to do if she plans to run for president.

The latest numbers show Palin has a 43 percent favorability rating while 53 percent admit they wouldn’t vote for her for president and 60 percent say she’s not qualified.

“[When I see these polls] I think ‘well if I read and believed everything that’s been written about me too I’d say the same thing,'” Palin said. “That’s why I want people to read my book so they can read unfiltered what my values are, what my record is, what my accomplishments are.”

Candidate #10,Former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin: Republican Presidential Hopefuls (Part A)

New York Daily News reported on May 27th:

Sarah Palin, the former GOP vice presidential candidate and Alaska governor, will kick off a "one Nation" bus tour in Washington D.C. over the holiday weekend.

John Walker/AP

Sarah Palin, the former GOP vice presidential candidate and Alaska governor, will kick off a “one Nation” bus tour in Washington D.C. over the holiday weekend.

Sarah Palin is hopping aboard a national bus tour this weekend, and now the big mystery is whether she’s also switching gears for a White House run.

The former Alaska governor’s One Nation road trip is shrouded in secrecy, with her political action committee only revealing that she’ll start in Washington and go up through New England to “educate and energize Americans about our nation’s founding principles.”

Republican presidential candidate Tim Pawlenty shrugged off Palin’s bus tour Friday when asked on MSNBC’s “Morning Joe” if the trip indicated a run for the Oval Office.

“Who knows? I don’t know if she’s running or not,” he said. “We need to quit worrying about polls and bus tours and get onto the issue of how we’re going to fix the country.”

In a telling sign that Palin might not run, Fox News exec Bill Shine said she would continue at the network as a paid contributor for the foreseeable future.

“We are not changing Sarah Palin’s status,” he told the Daily News.

The ‘One Nation’ tour bus (SARAHPAC)

The statement comes after her fellow Fox contributors, Newt Gingrich and Rick Santorum, were suspended in March until they decided whether they’d run for president. (Gingrich has officially announced his candidacy, and Santorum is expected to enter the race next month.)

Fox wants to avoid the conflict of interest of having official GOP candidates on its payroll. The fact that Palin is still employed by Fox has raised doubts at the prospect of her candidacy.

Other skeptics point out that she hasn’t even formed a presidential exploratory committee, and hasn’t been to the early primary states of New Hampshire and Iowa in 2011.

Palin’s bus tour follows a new Gallup Poll showing the former vice presidential candidate just 2 points behind ex-Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney.

She also has reportedly bought a $1.6 million home in Arizona (which would be a much more convenient campaign base than, say, Alaska), scheduled a number of public appearances, rehired two former aides and recently said she has “the fire in my belly” to run in 2012.

MSNBC host Lawrence O’Donnell, for one, is skeptical about a Palin run, insisting she has simply “chosen to manipulate press excitement around her,” and is just creating hype for the publicity, like billionaire businessman Donald Trump did.

“The day that it becomes absolutely clear to everyone that doesn’t already get it that Palin will never run for president – on that day, she becomes worth half as much or less as a reality TV star.”

What’s also known about the bus tour is that she’ll kick it off at the Rolling Thunder motorcycle rally that starts at the Pentagon. But Ted Shpak, a director of the group, which brings attention to American troops who fought in wars, said Palin was never invited.

“We’re not political. This is not a political event. Maybe she’s coming because she knows we have half a million people coming,” Shpak told MSNBC. “We’re not endorsing anybody and she’s not speaking on our stage.”

Viewing the flypast

The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge, flanked by bridesmaids and a page boy, watch the Royal Air Force flypast over Buckingham Palace, following their marriage at Westminster Abbey, 29 April 2011.

Prince William and Kate moved in together about a year ago. In this clip above the commentator suggested that maybe Prince Charles and Princess Diana would not have divorced if they had lived together before marriage. Actually Diana was a virgin, and it was Charles’ uncle (Louis Mountbatten) that gave him the advice that he should seek to marry a virgin.

The Houston Chronicle reported that couples who live together before marriage have an 80 percent greater chance of divorce after they are married than those who don’t cohabit first. A Washington State researcher discovered that women who cohabit with a man are twice as likely to experience domestic violence as are married women. The National Center for Mental Health revealed that the incidence of depression among cohabiting women is four times greater than that among married women, and two times greater than depression among unmarried women.

In a survey of more than 100 couples who lived together, 71 percent of the women said they would not live-in again. In practice, cohabiting couples who marry —many of whom already have children —are about 33 percent more likely to divorce than are couples who don’t live together before their nuptials Virgin brides, on the other hand, are less likely to divorce than are sexually experienced women who entered marriage. Evidence strongly suggests that, while test driving a car might be a good idea, “trying out” one’s future partner is not.

I actually posted this as a response to Mrs. Shriver’s request on you tube.

I got a lot out of this article and I wanted to share it with you and here is the first portion below:

Her Husband Wouldn’t Speak to Her—for Three Years

Even in the silence, June Sims continued serving her husband as she waited for God to answer her prayers.Mary May Larmoyeux.

For 20 years, their marriage and family seemed solid. June and Lamar Sims raised their children in church and attended a parenting seminar. But the good life began to change when their engaged daughter revealed she was expecting a child.

“That really threw Lamar for a loop,” June recalls. “He thought none of that would happen with our kids.”

June and Lamar Sims

June and Lamar Sims,
shortly after June’s
graduation from high
school in 1963.

Lamar became angry at God. He stopped going to church, didn’t want blessings at meals, and removed pictures of missionaries from the family refrigerator.

The unexpected pregnancy began a series of crises in Lamar’s life. Over the next several years, he had back surgery, two hip replacements, lost his job, and was forced to go on disability. In addition, a child ran away from home, and another daughter went through several years of rebellion.

Lamar’s anger and bitterness increased, and it became more and more difficult for June to be around her husband. Nothing she said or did would please him.

After 34 years of marriage, Lamar said he wanted a divorce. “I don’t love you. I don’t need you. I don’t want you,” he told his wife.

But June still loved Lamar, and she didn’t want to end their marriage. When she refused to divorce Lamar he said, “Well, just leave me alone.”

And so Lamar and June continued living in the same house, but they didn’t speak.

For three years.

“June, why are you doing this?”

During these years of silence, Lamar and June communicated by writing notes to one another and leaving them on the refrigerator door. Even though Lamar did not want a relationship with his wife, he asked her to continue cooking for him. So, after coming home from work, June prepared dinner for him and then ate her meal in her bedroom. This arrangement went on for about two years when Lamar said that he didn’t want June cooking for him anymore.

June continued to wash Lamar’s clothes, cut the yard, and serve him in other ways to prevent herself from becoming bitter. “My poor daddy would come out and he’d just cry, ‘June, why are you doing this?’” Her parents and children (who were now adults) begged her to divorce Lamar. They feared she was in danger and envisioned her living in misery.

“They thought I was just being foolish.” June says. “They’d say things like, ‘God doesn’t want you to suffer like this,’ or ‘God doesn’t work that way,’ or ‘God gives you common sense.’” Although June realized her loved ones meant well, their comments put a lot of pressure on her. She knew she had to please God and believed He wanted her to remain in the marriage.

As June confined herself to her bedroom, she was alone with God and the Word. “I was in His classroom,” she says, “and I had ears to hear. God was in the pruning process in my life.”

In the beginning she thought that her marriage problems were all Lamar’s fault, but as she turned to God she saw ways that she had failed her husband. “I had not put him first,” June says. “I put the kids before him … and church, too.” She also says she didn’t show him proper respect. June realized that she had looked to Lamar to make her happy when true happiness comes from God.

“Keep me in the fire … ”

As weeks turned into months, June focused less on earning Lamar’s love and respect and more on allowing the Lord to shape her into His image. She kept a journal, and one of her entries read:

I’m not going to ask You to shorten the days of my adversity if these days mean knowing You better. If these days mean You’re changing me, keep me in the fire until Your work in me is complete … Just give me the grace and the strength to remain faithful and true in You to glorify You. I want to learn all You want me to learn. I don’t want this to be wasted time.

On another day she wrote: Lord, I cannot change this man but You can change me.

When June found herself dwelling on the things that Lamar had done that upset her she would immediately start praising the Lord out loud. She eventually accepted the fact that Lamar might never be a part of her life and was satisfied with just the Lord.

After three years, God had a final lesson for June: dealing with unforgiveness.  In her mind she imagined telling Lamar how he had hurt her. “I forgave him,” she says, “and released him from it.”

Shortly after that, she actually spoke to Lamar and asked him if they could get some emergency lights that burned on gas. He simply answered, “No.”  But since they were talking, she told Lamar that she still loved him and had not meant things that she had said in anger.

Lamar sternly replied, “June, you think things are going to get better, but they are not.”

But June also recalls that there was something different after this short conversation. She sensed a softness in her husband.

“June, if you’ve got time, come here a minute”

A few days after their brief conversation, Lamar spoke again to June. In a soft voice he asked if she and her father would clear off a hillside on their property where he wanted to plant grass for the deer. “I knew he wasn’t going to thank me,” she says, “but I did it as unto the Lord.”  Sure enough, after June and her father cleared the hillside, Lamar showed no appreciation.

About six weeks later, she was stunned to hear Lamar say, “June, if you’ve got time come here a minute.”

He continued, “I’ve been thinking. I know that I said things to hurt you and you said things to hurt me but if you want to we’ll try to make a go of it.” June said she wanted to try to make the marriage work, even though Lamar said he didn’t know if he would ever love her again.   “And it wasn’t two weeks before he was calling me darling and telling me he loved me,” she says.

June purposefully focused on his good qualities and says doing this revolutionized their marriage. “It was almost like we were in a contest,” she says, “to see who was going to outdo the other.” The more she showed respect to Lamar, the more he wanted to show his love to her. She also made sure Lamar knew how much she appreciated him.
